Campaign
Lament of the Ironborn is a long-term campaign, starting at level 3. Players will be thrust into a story of history, mystery, political intrigue and old magic as they attempt to make a name for themselves, and possibly save the world as they know it. Ausica is the homebrew world/setting that I have been building for over 10 years, and players will get access to the Player's Guide to Ausica to assist in creating their characters.
Information
- New players are welcome! I have a lot of experience coaching players, whether you are new to Roll 20, this edition or to TTRPGs in general.
- Discord will be used for voice chat during sessions and for communication between sessions. (see below)
- Additional character creation rules and optional variant rules will be discussed at Session 0, as well as character concepts and how your party came to be.
- My storytelling style leans more towards ROLEplaying than ROLLplaying. Combat, rules and character optimization has it's place in any game, but the story is the important bit. How much combat is included in the campaign will be discussed at Session 0.
- The campaign will use milestone leveling.
- We will be using a curated list of available Races/Classes/Subclasses designed to fit the setting. This includes homebrew races/classes I have created personally and from other sources. Options not included in the list can be discussed one on one.
- You play characters in a big world. There are creatures and organizations more powerful than you, at least to start. Your actions will have consequences for yourself and the others in the party, and possibly on the world itself.
About your DM
- I've been playing D&D and other TTRPGs for nearly 20 years, and DMing for about 12 years.
- Over 10 years using Roll20 as a platform, and close to 2000 hours logged on it.
- I have a large library of art, character portraits, maps, creature tokens and music to make each session immersive.
- Loads of experience in storytelling in multiple formats and including player character backstories into the campaign.
- Able to help create your perfect character and available to answer questions throughout the week regularly.
- I see role playing games as collaborative storytelling - we work as a group to create a story that each of us want and are proud of.
Expectations
- Voice for the game will be over Discord, so a good microphone, headphones (or ear buds) and little to no background noise is required. This includes NOT having computer speakers turned on while talking, as no one likes to hear feedback and echoes while they are talking. (It's actually a pet peeve of mine.) I also request that players NOT use Discord on a mobile device as the quality is garbage. Please use a laptop or computer.
- Please be considerate of everyone else in the group in terms of scheduling. Let us know as soon as you can about missing scheduled sessions so that decisions can be made.
- Be on time to sessions: this is just basic respect for everyone in the group.
- This game is a safe space for all from all bigotry and hate. This includes (but isn't limited to) religious views, race, gender identity and sexual preference.
Pay to Play
- Why pay to play? Paying for a game has it's perks for everyone: players know that the DM will show for a game and provide a great experience, and the DM knows that players are committed to telling a great story together. It also allows me to purchase more art, tokens, Roll20 modules, etc for the campaign.
- Aside from Session 0, sessions will cost $15 per player. Payments will be made via PayPal, before sessions begin.
- If you are going to be missing a session you do not need to pay for it, but please be aware that missing too many sessions will lead to be dropped from the game entirely.
- The first two players to contact me about joining the table will receive a $5 discount for each of their first 3 sessions.
Alright, phew. If you've read this far and are still interested in the game - please get in touch via messages!
Stay classy!
