First session and session 0 are both free!  4 slots left! First some shameless testimonials from current players in my paid games - I have the pleasure of playing in a campaign with the most creative DM I have ever had the pleasure of gaming with. Every encounter, every dungeon, every NPC in this homebrew world was thoughtfully crafted and expertly executed. And what really impressed me was the way he encouraged us as players to think creatively as well. He never shot down our ideas, no matter how crazy they seemed at first, and instead found ways to incorporate them into the story in unexpected and exciting ways. But what really sets this DM apart is again THE WORLD. Each of us have a personal quest and he made sure to give us opportunities to pursue those quests and see them through to the end. It made us feel invested in the world and the story, and made the stakes feel real. But perhaps the most impressive thing about this DM was the way he adapts to unexpected twists and turns in the story. No matter what we throw at him, he always found a way to roll with it and turn it into something incredible. Overall, I cannot recommend this DM enough. He is a master of his craft and truly takes his players on an unforgettable journey. Swizzle has been an incredible DM for our campaign! I am a relatively new player, with this current campaign being my fourth ever TTRPG experience, and I can say that it will be hard to find another DM like this when this adventure eventually comes to a close. First of all, he is very accommodating when any player has a time issue, or we decide as a group to make a schedule change, even going so far as to record one of our sessions (with the group's permission!) for one of the players when they couldn't make it. Secondly, the amount of detail in the world that he has built is amazing, and really helps with the immersion as the world feels fleshed out. As for his DM style, I have not had anything to complain about thus far. There is not any serious railroading, and when something pressing does happen it feels very natural and easy to get caught up in the sudden action. There has been a healthy balance of RP and combat, which is nice for someone like me that wants the opportunity to build their RP/conversational skills without feeling like the campaign is dragging. One of my favorite things about the way this campaign has gone so far is the little hints and slight telling of bigger things to come, mysteries to be explored. Also, the way our characters have been integrated into the world feels very thoughtful. All in all, Swizz has been a wonderful DM and I would very highly recommend him to any players looking for an unforgettable adventure! Welcome to Etharia! A diverse land of many peoples and cultures. Like most lands it is shaped by the atrocities that have happened there. From the mountains, forests, and valleys of Montverde, to the fractured, scarred, and war-torn plains of Claxxantumarius, life follows many paths. Which path will you find yourself on? Hi everyone and thanks for reading! I am looking to start up another paid game in my homebrew land of Etharia! A vast continent of diverse regions and peoples! This will be a sandbox game where you as the party get to be in the driver seat and decide where you want to go and what you want to do! I have a few requirements for players and will also be interviewing everyone on discord to ensure we get a good group that will jive well together, as well as doing a free session 0 with everyone involved to double make sure we have a good group and everyone gets along and is looking for the same basic things! We will be starting at level 2 and I expect to go into at least the mid to late teens! I expect sessions to run around 4 hours on average though sometimes that may be a little more or less depending on everyone's availability and exactly what is happening in game. I am also ALWAYS available between sessions for questions, player info/development stuff, World/Lore questions, and sometimes even little 1 on 1 sessions if there's something you want to do but don't want to take up an hour or so of session time with it or it just makes sense to do it in private! I am a full-time DM and this is my job so I am always at your service and aim to please! Paying for one of my games gets you full time access to me! My discord is Swizzle#0237 if you would like to reach out to me on there! Requirements 1. Good quality mic (webcam is a big plus! I use mine and encourage my players to use theirs as I find it helps facilitate good RP, but by no means is it required!) 2. NO METAGAMERS (or power gamers for that matter) This is not the game for you, and you will not enjoy me as a DM! (aka no coffeelocks please!!!) 3. Good attitude/Team mentality - This is a cooperative story telling game so please come in with that mindset. Everyone will have their time to individually shine and I always make sure to keep everyone involved, but just please remember there is more than just you at the table! 4. Not a requirement but a big plus is doing a character voice - Just something to breathe more life into your character and set them apart from yourself. I don't expect professional ass voices like in Critical Role or anything like that, but effort is encouraged! I am certainly not a professional voice actor but I do try to do differing voices for my NPCs I run a very inclusive table so if you are part of the BIPOC or LGBTQ+ communities please know that I will do everything I can to ensure this is a safe space for you to play in! A little bit about the game - We will be using 5E D&D rules with some modifications. I do tend to go by the book on most things but will change rules as I see fit if I think something doesn't make sense (I do take player input into account if you have a quick argument on a ruling). A few notable changes from RAW 1. I use Matthew Mercer's potion rule (BA to take one, full action to feed one to somebody else) 2. I use the optional flanking rule 3. Feats are allowed 4. I use some homebrew sources for extra spells and potentially for things like crafting if it is applicable to any party member and they have an interest in taking professions further than the rules allow. Extra spellbook I use is Grimlore's Grimoire and it can be found for free on DMsGuild I believe or I can email you a copy! 5. There may be more changes to rules that come up as we play if I see something that doesn't make sense. As always if you have an issue with a ruling feel free to bring it up on the spot and I will take a closer look without impeding play as much as possible. If you still have an issue after you brought it up and I make my final ruling on it after that please get with me after the game and we can discuss as much as you want! The game will be a good mix of all traditional RPG elements, but the true percentages of RP>Combat>Exploration will depend on party choices. As an example, with the other campaign we once went about 5 sessions with absolutely no combat (there was a heist and some other things but no actual combat), and we have also gone 5-6 (maybe more) sessions in a row with combat. This is a completely sandbox game so the party has a ton of control over what the sessions will go like. I am not the type of DM to just start throwing random monsters out there because we haven't had combat in a while unless it makes sense for something like that to happen story wise! Scheduling wise I am open M/Tues/Weds/Fri/Sun nights starting at about 8pm MST (USA) or we could do M/W starting at about 12pm MST (USA) I expect sessions to go for anywhere from 3-5 hours depending on what's happening and player availability with the average session being around 4 hours. We will decide upon the time and day as a party once we are full and will run with a schedule of playing 2 weeks in a row and then taking 1 week off (sometimes we can go for more weeks in a row than this if EVERYONE is on board), but please be ready to do 3 sessions a month at least! A little about the world - Peace. Just peace. This has been a time of peace in the land of Etharia. The only true time of peace here amongst all the blood that stains the pages of it's history. The 2 beacons of the free humanoid world, The Kingdom of Montverde, and it's friendly larger compatriot The Diveran Dynasty have had a treaty in effect for the past 73 years. Ruled from their vastly different capitals of Orentheim and Casteross respectively, people have prospered. Orentheim, a massive sprawling city, right on the banks of both the Abyss Ocean and it's beautiful white sand beaches, and The Mahter, the river that is the lifeblood of these lands. The largest known port City in the world, Orentheim is the best and biggest player in the global import and export trade. 600-700 some odd miles away lies the castle fortress that is Casteross. Originally built by the mountain dwarves it has since expanded and is now home to many of the differing free people of this land. Nestled deep within the SunderSea Mountain range and positioned right at the feet of the mighty rivers of these lands, The Mahter and The Narrows. Right where they disappear beneath the mountains in a spray of water and mist. Even with all the evil that still plagues this land, and every other, people have prospered. The defeat of the Claxxantum near 100 years ago signalled this true period of peace. Defeat is a rather strong word for what happened however. Simply not being allowed to invade and take control is not real and final defeat. But 100 years of no Claxx west of The Gorge is its own form of victory. But there have been whispers lately. Tensions seem to be growing, and there is a heavy presence in the air. Strange things have been crossing over into Divera from Claxxantumarius. There has been talk of walking skeletons and monstrosities, though from reports they seem to have no direction, and wander at random. Things feel....different than last time. 100 years ago the free people of Etharia rose up to keep their land free. How will the story write itself this time around? The adventure will be starting near Elban which is a city nestled in the foothills of the Tiraloc peaks sitting on the edge of the lake that births The Mahter, the largest known river in all of Etharia. Mostly populated by human, dwarves, and gnomes. A lot of miners live here and the city does decent business sending things down the river and also across the rolling greenlands to the east to Port Vasper where things can be shipped all over the world. They even ship down into the Vutha Swamp that is home to many friendly, albeit strange and secretive, cultures including Lizard Folk and Sea Elves. A very blue collar town, work hard play hard, with a good mix of taverns, other "entertainment" venues, and even an amphitheater where local bards and performers will have grand shows. On the final day of every ten-day a sort of impromptu party is held in the amphitheater. People will sing, and dance, and juggle, play musical instruments, and even have competitions like arm wrestling and goat ball (the Official Game of Montverde)! Some merchants set up little pop up booths to sell interesting wares, and the liquor flows. It is a little bit of relaxation and merriment at the end of a long 9 days of work, and for most that means manual labor in the mines. There are various shops around town offering a variety of services and products, as well as a few inns and taverns where travelers may find respite from the roads and wilderness that are rife with dangerous people and creatures. You all have your own reasons for traveling to this city, and are currently traveling there and getting rather close. Some of you may be coming from a long ways and it has been a difficult and arduous journey, while for others Elban may not be far from home. One thing is for certain. Things are about to get interesting. To the south and southwest of Elban curving around the foothills of the Tiraloc Peaks sprawls the Locwood. A dense forest that is an important source of materials and game for the people who live in or near it. It also comes with its fair share of dangers. It is said parts of the wood grow especially dark and are best avoided, and there are stories of many fearsome beasts, strange creatures, and even a witch that call the Locwood their home. Occasionally, a person or two will venture in to never be heard from again, but typically as long as you respect the forest you will be fine. Trees have long memories, and collectively, forests longer still. To the west, across the lake, rise the Tiraloc Peaks. Named for the massive lake to the southwest that they seem to spring out of. Impossibly tall, with the tallest of peaks residing permanently within a layer of clouds. The rock of the mountains themselves is gray with a strong tint of gold, and trees dot the entirety of the peaks. Interestingly enough, even though it rises to the elevation where you typically see permafrost and snow, there is no snow seen on the massive center mountain peak, at least not on the parts not obscured by clouds. Right in the center of the peaks rises the largest peak of them all. It dwarfs the surrounding peaks by comparison and it appears that it goes on quite a ways past the clouds judging by how thick it is where it disappears. Many mountain rivers make their way down through the various peaks and foothills, all making their way to the Mahter and increasing its flow ever more. It is truly an impressive sight and makes you feel very small by comparison. The stage is set, you are traveling to Elban for reasons that are your own. What will you do once you arrive at your destination? The rest is up to you! Thank you for reading (hopefully!) my entire post. I am looking to start this game within the next month or two and plan on taking a little bit of time to interview players to once again ensure a good fit for everyone! Last note about the game! I allow basically every race/class except for some of the Eberron races and some of the Ravnica races, Spelljammer we can talk about, I'm sure I can find a way to write that stuff into the world if you really have an interest in one of those races! Please send me the following in a DM! 1. Discord username 2. Age, Gender/Pronouns, anything else personal you care to share! 3. D&D Experience (don't necessarily need a ton, I am fine with teaching!) 4. Favorite moment in a D&D game so far 5. Worst moment in a D&D game so far 6. What you look for in a game, what you enjoy, what you don't enjoy. 7. Character concept (if you don't have a new one maybe tell me about a previous character you have played a little) Thanks again for reading and hope to see some applications! PS: I always forget to mention this because it seems so common sense to me but there will be NO SEXUAL VIOLENCE of ANY sort in my game. Any player attempting something like this will be removed immediately as I would like the game to be a safe space for everyone involved.  This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $15/session to be filled via PayPal before the next session starts. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
