I’m Jason and I hope you’ll consider joining me and a few
other enthusiastic players for some D&D adventure! Saturday game start times(three-hour sessions): 6:00AM Pacific Time/9:00AM Eastern 9:30AM Pacific Time/12:30PM Eastern 1:00PM Pacific Time/4:00PM Eastern 4:30PM Pacific Time/7:30PM Eastern Official 5e module TYRANNY OF DRAGONS, which is the combined
modules Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat. The character level for
these will go from 1 st level to about 15 th level. This game will require payment to the Game
Master at a rate of $20 per three-hour session. Roll20 is not responsible for
any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. These games are pay-to-play, priced at $20/session, though
there are discounts for early signups and/or referrals. For now, all games are
scheduled for Saturday. Not all games may fill, so players who are flexible may
be able to shift to a game that is in need and games with less flexibility may
be recipients of said players. I hope you’ll consider the following in choosing my
table: I’m a good speaker/storyteller. No formal training in
theatre or debate, but I’ve always been good at thinking on my feet and
spinning an entertaining yarn and have public speaking experience. I’m good with tech and know the Roll20 platform. I work in
tech, have multiple screens to help manage the game data, and can access what
is needed without disrupting the flow of the story’s narrative. I’m good with D&D 5E, I know the system inside and out
and won’t slow the game down with referencing rules’ mechanical application or
general information on the lore. I’m committed to the player experience. Fun is the word.
This means an environment that is safe, entertaining, with difficulty that
finds the balance between boredom and frustration, and rulings that are fair,
neither pandering nor punitive. Game Culture: We’re initially aiming at a kind of PG-13 rating for
content. If it turns out that the group is all adults and tends toward
profanity and/or bawdy humour, that’s fine. But, let’s see if we need younger
folks to fill the game and keep it appropriate for them, at least initially. All demographics should feel welcome, so no hate speech or
prejudice based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, or
similar personal characteristics will be tolerated. In the context of the game, there will be violence, even
killing, and PCs might be taken prisoner. However, there won’t be highly
visible, persistent enslavement of people, graphic depictions of torture,
sexual assault, or similarly egregious atrocities. There also won’t be
excessively sexual roleplay. Not shaming anyone, just leaving that for GMs that
are enthusiastic about that kind of thing. We’ll use an x-card mechanic if anyone feels the game
content is distressing and we’ll see if we can find a solution. We don’t want
to cramp anyone’s style or fun, but don’t want to inadvertently traumatize
anyone either. Game Mechanics: Published adventures will be from 5e sources. Official 5e
content is available to players as is Unearthed Arcana (technically play-test
content, but somewhat official). Homebrew will be minimal. I’m open to it, but
let’s ease into it. Much HB is outrageously overpowered. Technically, feats and multiclassing are optional rules, but
they are allowed. I like to give a little goose to player power to spice things
up, so an AGI/Feat will be available in addition to normal point-buy character
creation to make your heroes a little more heroic. Adjudicating edge-cases, unusual situations, or rule
interpretations will focus on keeping the game flowing. Though I’m very
familiar with the ruleset, even if I make a bad ruling, we can discuss
post-game and we’ll know better for next time. No permanent damage is done.
Even a TPK isn’t permanent damage . . . I can always rule that the party is NOT
dead, something something Deux ex Machina. What I don’t want is a debate on
rules interpretation consuming half an hour of paid-for play time. You pay to
play, not listen to a rules arbitration. Trust me to do right by you and your character
and let’s keep the action moving. Payment and DISCOUNTS: In general, sessions are $20 for three hours (though they
may run long, no additional payment is needed). Venmo, Zelle, Cashapp, and Paypal are
acceptable. Payment due before game in question. There are a few discounts
available. The first game to fill up will have a $5 discount for all players.
The first player in a game slot will have a $5 discount (based on when payment
is received, not promised). If you refer a player, you will get a $5 discount
effective upon their payment. These are cumulative and per-session. For
example, the first player to pay in the first game to fill could refer two
players and play for free. Session Zero is free, an introduction for the players and
maybe also the characters in-game. You should at least come with a strong
character concept, though I can work asynchronously via Discord or message
board for character creation before the session. It’s also to make sure tech
is working and Discord /Roll20 is cooperating.
No strict absence policy is enforced. Just try to give as
much notice as possible and keep absences to a minimum. If the party is short
because of repeated absences, I will let other players in and people who are
habitually absent may find the table too full when/if they return. If life
happens and you need to change tables due to scheduling or take an extended
absence, just communicate with me and we’ll work out what we can. Application: Please post your interest below. Be sure to indicate which session you are interested in. If you'd like to openly share a character concept, build, backstory or anything else, feel welcome. If you prefer a public reveal in the context of the game, that is fine, too. But, do make contact with me so you can be added to the Discord server and I can approve characters before play. Also, any questions about the games can be posted in this thread so anyone with a similar concern can see the answer.
