Greetings Gamers, I’m looking to be your game master for a weekly adventure on Tuesday evenings 6:00 PM MT / 12:00 AM UTC. Here is what I offer: Weekly game sessions of 3 to 4 hours using discord for voice and roll20 for our vtt with a short break at half-time to stretch (no Pepsi half-time show or rousing rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" provided). Campaigns running 8 - 10 sessions in length Always free to play with the effort of a paid game master put into every session Twenty years of game master experience A laid-back, story-focused, collaborative experience where everyone at the table is heard and valued for their contribution A safe place for any adult (18+ players only please) regardless of gender, race, and preferences Use of safety tools (X-card, lines and veils, open door, open veto) A discord server with a channel dedicated and private to the members of the group to chat, plan, and connect between game sessions. Here is what I’m looking for: 3 - 5 gamers. Preference will be given to existing friend groups looking for a game master but this may be unlikely so we will likely be assembling a group. You will be vetted and have the chance to vet the other players at the table to ensure everyone feels comfortable with who they are gaming with. Gamers interested in playing a variety of games, at this time I’m not looking to run Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder. Gamers who enjoy the process of learning new rules systems, but don’t let rules get in the way of telling a good story. Rules lawyers and min-maxers need not apply. Gamers who like short campaigns, a chance to build a new character, throw them into challenging situations and see them through to resolution. If you want a multi-year campaign with the same character, this is not for you. Gamers who are willing to spend a few dollars on purchasing rulebooks for games. You don’t have to purchase every single supplement in the limited edition hardcover, but at least chuck $10 on itch to the creator for the hours of enjoyment you’re about to get. Gamers who like seeing their characters fail, fall short and have complications they need to overcome. If you only want your character to win every fight and overcome every challenge without any effort then you don’t really have a story to tell. Gamers who are inclusive and welcoming to other gamers at the table. Gamers who share the spotlight around the table and look for opportunities to let others shine. Be a bigger fan of the other PCs than you are of yourself. Gamers who are committed to showing up to game night ready to engage. Things happen, life gets in the way, but if you’re already overcommitted let this one slide past you. There’ll be other games. Gamers who want to play a game and come to the table with that mindset (show up on time, character sheet is up to date, you know what happened in the last session, you’re ready to dive in). Gamers who are interested in the hobby, know a bit about what games are out there and propose potential games to add to the list. Maybe you listen to TTRPG podcasts, or watch content creators on YouTube. You know who you are. This isn’t a deal breaker, especially if you’re new to the hobby but hopefully you feel interested to know more about the hobby. Gamers with a decent microphone, a stable internet connection and a reliable means of accessing roll20 online. If you’re talking to me through an earbud microphone, at Grand Central Station during rush hour while trying to pull up roll20 on your phone I just don’t know that I have the patience. Gamers who have an interest in game mastering themselves. While I tend to prefer GMing over playing I’m also open to the idea of rotating GMs at the table if you’re also hankering to get behind the screen. Maybe you’re new to the TTRPG hobby. I like new players and so long as the other bullet points haven’t scared you off you’re welcome at the table. My RPG library is vast and unfortunately the majority of those games have yet to see the table. I aim to change that with the help of some cool gamers of a similar mindset. Each season the group members will vote on a selection of game pitches in a weighted ranked poll. The pitch with the highest score will be the game for the next campaign, the two runners up will remain on the poll for the following campaign while the two lowest scoring pitches get relegated and may be revisited in a later poll. We play through an 8-10 session arc of that campaign, wrap up that chapter of the story nice and tidy and do it all over again. Occasionally we may revisit a previous campaign for a new season but ultimately the idea is to create new characters, new stories and try out new systems. Group members can propose game systems, or stories they want to see added to future polls. What’s on my short-list right now? Legend of the Five Rings (4th edition), FARFLUNG, Fate: Straw Boss, Into the Black, Jackals, Apocalypse Keys, Yoon-Suin, Cypher System, Ryuutama, Heart, Happiest Apocalypse on Earth, Index Card RPG, Deadlands Weird West, Hard Wired Island, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Star Wars Edge of the Empire, and more. Interested? Send me a PM on roll20 or add me on discord @ Zagrave. Happy Gaming and as always, be a positive force in the TTRPG hobby.
