Tooltip Cheat In Dynamic Lighting

My players reported this to me: If they scroll onto an area of the map that is outside their visibility, they can see the Tooltip of any icon that is set to 'Show'. Using my screenshot below, you can see a player in the top right and the limits of his visibility range. A few rooms away, in the bottom center, in an unexplored area, is a room full of Black Earth Guards from Princes of the Apocalypse. The players can just move their mouse over the unexplored areas of the map and if a Tooltip is set to show they will see it.  In this case they saw all the guards waiting for them. Aside from obviously not setting Tooltips to Show, can Roll20 implement a fix?

Hi Mr. DM, The solution here is that your NPCs should be on the GM layer. There may be a bug here otherwise, but in the meantime moving your NPCs to the GM layer will resolve the issue for you.  If you would like to file a bug report I suggest filing one via the Help Center as the bug report forum is primarily for users helping users.

Yup. Unfortunately, as implemented, tooltips are in no way secret or concealed. Multiple requests have been made to give permissions to their visibility, like auras, bars, or nameplates, but I suspect that they were implemented in a way that makes this difficult to impossible.

Indeed. I use them only for stuff I want the players to see, which is AC, PD, & MD for all monsters in my 13th Age games. Once I move the tokens from the GM Layer to the Token Layer, that’s it.
Thank you for your feedback everyone.
