Cant see player nameplate. "nameplate" keeps rechecking itself

I purchased a Plus subscription today and ever since then, the nameplates on my characters' tokens have disappeared.  Ive followed the "uncheck nameplate" and then check "See" in General menu  (which did work prior to subscription),  but I cant get the nameplates to show up anymore. and when I go to the Character>Edit>Edit Token Properties>Details, the "nameplate" checkbox is checked again. Ive tried everything I can think, even deleting the character and starting over, but I get the same results. Please help.

Hello Mark, I hope the following table may help you to configure your game to meet your goal. # Goal Nameplate See Comment 1 Nameplate always invisible to everyone - - 2 Nameplate always visible to the owner only checked - 3 Nameplate switches between visible to everyone or noboby - checked the "nameplate" checkbox becomes a switch, useful in some specific situations (e.g. the heroes follow a foe amongst a crowd and, after a corner, may follow the wrong guy.) 4 Nameplate always visible to everyone checked checked Don't forget to save your token setting AND make the newly configured token as DEFAULT to the associated character sheet. "Character" -> "Edit" -> "Default Token (Optional)" -> "Use Selected Token". Failure to do so will revert the token configuration to its "old" default which is obviously not what you want. On top of that, a 3rd parameter is available in "My Settings", "Graphics": " Hover to show token nameplate and bar overlay ". The following table, coupled with the one above, may help you understand what result you can expect with the "Mouse Hover" parameter. # Case Nameplate See Hover Comment 1 Nameplate invisible to everyone - - - N/A since the nameplates are off by default. 2 Nameplate visible to the owner only checked - checked this token show its name only to its owner when hovered. 3 Nameplate switches between visible to everyone or noboby - checked checked this token show its name to everybody when hovered only if the Game Master check the "nameplate" box (e.g. on purpose, see 'switching' example above.) 4 Nameplate visible to everyone checked checked checked this token show its name to everybody when hovered. Can you confirm the issue is solved or did I completely miss the point?

Hi Mark! Two questions; 1) Are you the creator of the game, or was it created by a Pro subscription user? (If the game is running scripts, the usual culprit for this behavior is the HealthColors script) 2) Is this behavior exhibited on the same exact token immediately after setting? Or only after it is pulled again from the journal tab? (If the latter, this is usually attributable to improperly saving the default token.) BTW, good tables, Erik. I may swipe them

1. I am the creator/DM. started with free account, but recently upgraded to Plus. no scripts. 2. I am having varying results with different tokens, so trying to wrangle what may be a bug and what may be user error.  Reading over the table going through the steps now. One thing that messed me up is all the advice ive found says to turn off the "nameplate" checkmark, which worked before, though that made no sense. was that something that was fixed? I could easily just mixed things up too.
I think I got it all working now. Thanks for the chart, Erik. very helpful to see it all layed out like that. If anything starts to act weird again, I'll report back, but if not, assume issue was taken care of.
also didnt know about the "hover" feature! gonna try that out and see how I and others like it.
