S077_The_Curse_Of_Oblivion November 15, 2018 Thursday 10PM The events at the museum are complete. Dawm is roughly 8 hours away. Network sets up a timer to keep track of their remaining time. SAT has taken the DEMON agents and supers into custody. Several DEMON agents escaped through the underground tunnels that lead to the beach. These tunnels were used for getting supplies into the base and moving product out to their customers. The Livre D'Eibon was left behind. The team keeps hold of it but Paladin does tell Director Canfield that they have it. Canfield sends Brian Eldritch to help with the spell but emphasizes that she thinks that afterward the book should be turned over to PRIMUS. Paladin tells her that won't happen. Canfield promises that Eldritch will still help. They make arrangements for Eldritch to meet the team at the Bunker within the hour. The Brooklyn Brigade looks for the cat that guided them to the secret passage that led to the DEMON base but it is nowhere to be found. 10:30 PM When they reach the base Preston prepares a meal for the team. Paladin places a call to Sophitia Alexandria asking her to try to get a message to Bast. She tells him that is unlikely. Bast frequently crews the father's solar barge (that would be Ra) and is at this very moment fighting the serpent of darkness and the demons of the underworld that seek to barge of the sun. Sophie promises that she would keep trying. Paladin would really like to get Bast's help with the counter spell. Paladin places another call to Director Canfield. The subject of the book comes up. The book will be useless unless someone can read the language that it is written in. They send a few random words from the book to the Director. She believes the original text was High Hyborian. She does not know the language but has seen it before. In addition to the original text various scholars in ages gone by have made notations in the margins while they studied the volume. Taking care to not read the passages in the book they page through it to identify the language. They find notations in Chinese, Spanish, Greek, and Latin. Paladin knows that their old friend Cardinal Alessi reads latin. After giving him a call the Cardinal invites them over. The Cardinal is too afraid to leave his cathedral. There are too many fell creatures that seek to kill him. The group goes to him. Brad lets them in and takes them to the Cardinal's chambers. In route continues to thumb through the book and finds a bookmark. The selected pages have extensive notes written in Latin. Network scans and memorizes the books contents without reading it. 10:45PM The group reaches St. Ignatius Cathedral. The Cardinal says the bookmarked page seems to be a complete spell translated into Latin. The group wants to exercise extreme caution with the book. They know whoever studies it to cast the spell contained on the cursed pages has a chance to go mad. They are reluctant to doom someone who is trying to help them. They continue to review the people who might be able to cast the spell who have the best chance to not be driven mad by it. Cardinal Alessi is at the bottom of the list. Kismet calls the family of witches that the Brigade knows, the Caruthers family. (Winguric, Monia, Melisanda (Melle), Avina, and Mary Margret Catherine Lucinda Abagail). After speaking briefly to Monia she puts Winguric on the phone. Winguric offers to read the book and work the spell. He says that he has made preparations for his family should he be not 'intact' afterwards. Paladin calls Director Canfield to let her know to send Eldritch to St. Ignatius and not to the Bunker. Kismet then calls Winguric to tell him that a PRIMUS wizard will be coming to help with the spell. Winguric does not want to be on the government's radar as a magic user. He gives the group a location other than his house to come to where the spell can be performed. He says he will use a polymorph self potion to conceal his identity. Kismet asks should they call him Mr. Smith or Mr. Jones. Winguric selects Mr. Jones as his alias. November 16, /2013 Friday 12:05 AM Eldritch arrives at the church he (again) implores the group to hand over the Livre D'Eidon to PRIMUS when they are done with the counter-spell of the Curse of Oblivion. After being shot down Eldritch goes into a slight 'poor me' tirade about how PRIMUS has used its considerable resources on the behalf of the American people and the Brooklyn Brigade but still no one trusts them. After he finishes he will add that despite the unfair suspicions he and PRIMUS are held in they would still help in any way they can. 12:30AM Eldrich and the Brooklyn Brigade arrive on the edge of the city East of Queens. It is a house similar in appearance to the one in the title credits of a Scooby Doo cartoon. A young girl with long brown hair and freckles wearing a over long t-shirt and a necktie is there. The girl directs them to the cemetery behind the house and introduces himself to Eldrich as 'Mr. Jones'. Jones lights a series of torches to give them the needed light to read by. Eldritch seems to have a better grasp of the research so Jones gets to work on drawing the mystic symbols the ritual needs on the marble slab and surrounding head stones. Drawing the symbols is taking too much time. He enlists the help of the Brigade to try to complete the preparations before dawn. He hands out copies of the pages from the book and tells group where the symbols need to be placed. The lack of expertise (both in art and magic) hinders the work making it more efficient for Mr. Jones to do it by himself. Then Network has the idea of using Revenant's image casting power to put the glyphs where they need to be and let the team use chalk to trace them on the required surfaces! [Great Idea, worthy of a bonus EXP]. Eldritch starts raving the spell is a work of genius, absolute genius! He tears his clothes off and makes several cuts on his body swathing himself in his own blood. The counter-spell he has been working on is etched (in chalk) on the marble slab that is a grave marker for a woman who was a reputed powerful witch. 06:30 Mr Jones and Eldritch begin the counter spell. They are still incanting when Revenant's timer clock hits zero at 06:46 but the dawn does not come! Only after the counter-spell is finished and the curse is broken does the first light of dawn peeks over the horizon. Network gives thanks to Bast. Eldritch refuses to release the book so he gets karate chopped into unconsciousness. Director Canfield is on her way. Everyone except Paladin goes home or returns to the Bunker. Canfield shows up with a squad of assault agents and an investigation team. She wants to know what happened to Eldritch. After being briefed she has someone throw something on the naked agent (it is after all November and cold out here) and take him for medical treatment. With psychological treatment to follow. She wants to know where the book is and what the group is going to do with it. Paladin tells her it will be someplace safe and he will let her know after it is secured. Director Canfield tells him this might not be over. DEMON might have copied the spell and shared it with other lairs. The counter-spell and the Livre D'Eibon might be the only chance of spotting this again. After that she leaves Paladin in peace. He takes a cab back to the super secret base. After getting one of Preston's marvelous breakfasts the group climbs in the RV with the Miskatonic University bumber sticker and drives to MU. It is a four hour drive each way. They put the book in the care of Doctor Henry Armitage, the library director, and then drive back home. Other then finding scrolls with the blueprints for a temple to Bast at the door to the Bunker the trek is uneventful. Paladin has not yet told Director Canfield where the book was secured. The rest of the weekend goes off with little fanfare. Okina spends some time looking into the 'shark' attack at happened at the Tokyo Market last November 12 th . The newspaper suggested that it that the people killed at the market were victims of a new mutant breed of lung-shark but Lt. House of PART assured the public that there were no long-sharks in Manhattan. Privately House told Okina that the sharks were very likely real but they were not natural mutations but the creations of a organization called Bloodmoon. The Tsukihama-gumi Yakuza clan's vice territory has been encroached by Aardwolf, a high ranking member of Bloodmoon, using exotic prostitutes (mostly human-cat hybrids). Rumor on the streets is that the Tsukihama-gumi did a real number of one of Aardwolf's girls to send a message for him to stay out of their territory. The shark attack was his retaliation. Okina decides to leave the situation alone, at least for a while. 11/19/2018 Monday ESU's Thanksgiving break starts Wednesday but classes technically are held Monday and Tuesday though little is actually accomplished during these days. Kismet makes plans to fly her broom to the family feast. To make matters more interesting she invites her Uncle to the holiday. Revenant is planning on spending the Holiday with his mom. The rest of the team, Paladin, Network, and Okina Maguro, have no plans or close knit family to be with so plan in loitering around the base. 1300 Rocko approaches Paladin. “Hey Boss, some dame wants to see you. She says her name is Cherry Darling. “ Paladin was hoping that it was a social call but Cherry dashed that hope real quick. After the team rescued her from Bloodmoon last May she gave up stripping and moved back to her family home in Kansas. That was where she decided to say, getting a job at the feed and grain store where her dad works. That came to an end about a week ago when a kindred-feline, a kindred-ursine, and a kindred-bat cornered her when she was returning home after a evening shift. They gave her a choice, come back to New York or they would rape and eat her mother and sisters while they forced her and her father to watch. Then they would feast on her father and take her back to New York anyway. She left immediately calling her family from the bus station just to tell them goodbye. As soon she got to New York she came to the Bunker to plead for help. Can the Brooklyn Brigade permanently put an end to Bloodmoon and the Kindred?
