I have seen a lot of interest recently of new players wanted to try
out table top gaming for the first time but are unable to find a game.
So I am going to run a beginners campaign of D&D 4th designed to
teach new players how to play a table top, and more specifically how to
play D&D. I have already ran one group through this beginners campaign, and I got lost of positive feedback so I want to open this up to another group.
Requirements.
1) You cannot have played D&D before (preferable never played a
tabletop before). This game will be specifically to teach new players
how to play table top, and I have found this works best when everyone
(besides the DM) are on the same level. 2) When gaming on roll20 I want to be able to talk with the group and
the group to be able to talk back. I do not do text based conversation
as I have found it is too slow and cumbersome on the DM with new players. You will have to have some
kind of audio communication. Additionally, I prefer to use Skype as the built in roll20 audio never seems to cooperate with everyone in the group.
3) I live in Eastern Standard Time (EST) and I will be running the
campaign on either weekday nights or weekend days in 3-4 hour blocks. As
a group we will decide on exact days and times but you must be able to
play in these windows of time, and the more availability the better. If you only have one night out of the week you can play, it makes it real hard to work you in with the group as a a whole.
What you can expect for this campaign
This will be a fun, light-hearted introduction to the world of
tabletop gaming. The first session of the campaign will be character
generation and an introduction battle to learn the basic mechanics. No
per-generated characters, we are going to learn how to play the game.
From there I will have a two-session home brewed mini-campaign with
the characters. This campaign will have no specific setting and thus no
lore that needs to be studied. The campaign will give all the players a
good feel for the game and have a chance to see all it offers.
Finally, if you own a digital or hard copy of the D&D 4th edition
Players Handbook, great you will need it. If you do not, I will supply
what you need so you do not have to spend money on something that might
not be your cup of tea.
Let me know if you are interested and I will PM you further details. I look forward to seeing you at the table!
