Bluetooth (Connected) Dice & Roll20 Character Sheets

I have more players picking up GoDice, until PixelDice comes out, and using them our roll20 session. There is a Chrome/roll20 extension, which is nice for DMs. For players, they enjoy the combo of rolling dice and seeing the results, but as of now you can only perform straight rolls. I would love it if Roll20 had the ability to link the rolls with abilities and attacks off their sheets. Players have been asking to move to Foundry where this is available, but I love Roll20 and have a considerable investment here. Request: Add the ability to link connected dice to character sheets (actions, attacks.)
This would be a cool feature, but I'm just thinking through the logistics. How would Roll20 or GoDice know what the roll is for? Which character, which ability or attack, etc.?  I think  that the character sheet would need to be updated with an additional 'roll type' that would create an input window and request the dice to be rolled, which then requires integration on the GoDice side to provide the input from the manual roll. In the meantime, you can use this Tip to adjust your PC sheets (definitely works for D&D 5E; I'm pretty sure it works for Pathfinder) to input rolls manually. I'm not sure if it would be possible to have the GoDice configured to input directly into a query input box instead of its own popup window, but if it can do that then this would work to click on the PC attack/ability and then roll the GoDice to input the number rolled and automatically add appropriate modifiers.
Let me look how Foundry is doing it for D&D5e sheets. But all excellent comments.
