Creating a Custom Compendium: "The Path of D&D 3.75"

Hey fellow Roll20 adventurers!   I'm working on a project called "The Path of D&D 3.75," a comprehensive compendium that includes monsters and characters from both D&D 3.5e and Pathfinder first edition. I want to create a custom database within Roll20 to make it accessible to everyone. Here's where I could use your expertise: 1. **Permissions and Database Creation:**    - How can I get permissions to create a custom compendium/database on Roll20?    - What steps do I need to take to set up this database with all the monsters and characters, complete with images and stats?   2. **Organization Tips:**    - Any suggestions on how to effectively organize the information? Alphabetically, by challenge rating, or perhaps thematic categories?   3. **Image Uploads:**    - What's the best way to upload all the images for monsters and characters? Is there a preferred format or size?   4. **User-Friendly Access:**    - How can I ensure that the database is user-friendly for everyone on Roll20? I'm looking forward to creating a resource that enhances our Roll20 gaming experience. Any advice, tips, or guidance from the experienced Roll20 community would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!   Happy rolling,

Unfortunately, compendium creation is only available to publishers currently. You could try contacting roll20 to get permission, but this is a very large project..
Hi Scott C., Thank you for sharing your thoughts on compendium creation. I share your enthusiasm and believe that allowing users to create their own content would be a fantastic addition to Roll20. I was thinking, what if Roll20 introduced a "homebrew compendium" feature that lets users like me create and share our own content? Picture this: the ability to craft unique monsters, complete with pictures, stats, and pre-assigned icon tokens. I also think it would be beneficial if users could include references to the Dungeon Master's Guide (DMG) or the Monster Manual, adding merit and credibility to their creations. This way, people can refer to these references for further context and understanding. The Roll20 marketplace could then host these user-created compendiums, offering them for free or at a fee. Personally, I'd be interested in such a feature, and I believe it could create a vibrant community of users sharing their homebrew content. I'm considering reaching out to Roll20 to express our collective interest in a user-friendly compendium creation tool. What are your thoughts on this idea, and do you think it's worth pursuing? Thanks again for your input, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts! Best regards, David A.

That sounds like a corporate-speak response, and i thought it was spam at first! If you want to suggest a custom compendium, there's a suggestions forum for things like this. Many users are with you on wanting this, and in fact it's been raised often enough that Roll20 have responded. They have said they are intent on introducing custom compendiums (at some point), but it's hard (apparently). I'm not holding my breath, but I do think they are sincere and I'm hoping they follow through (eventually).

Hi Gigs, Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally get the corporate-speak concern, and I appreciate your heads up on the suggestions forum. It's good to know that Roll20 has acknowledged the desire for custom compendiums, even if it's a bit challenging for them. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!  Best regards, David A.
