How to Use Global Attack Modifiers and Global Damage modifiers together for something like Great weapon master.

Hello, So I have a lot of weapons now and I have been finding ways to use the GAM and GDM areas to reduce weapon buttons for the same weapon. I am hitting a little snag for Great weapon Master in reducing attk by 5 and having +10 in dmg. Right now I have two buttons for my sword one for GWM and one without. I was wondering if there is a way I could use the modifier areas more effeciently to get rid of a the GWM button. So far I have been thinking of trying: GAM: -roll: ?{Great Weapon Master?|No,0|Yes,-5} GDM: -roll: ?{Great Weapon Master?|No,0|Yes,10} However first of all It will not add both the attack and the - 5 and give me a result it just puts say 15 + -5 vs giving me a total of 10. Also I have a lot of modifiers so this adds to more. Is there any way I could have it automatically answer yes in GDM if yes is chosen for GAM?

Not sure what system/sheet you are using, so including inline rolls and such may not work... but you might be able to use one query that works for both types of modifiers. The query needs to be exactly the same(one prompt), but manipulate it outside the query to get different results. example; GAM: [[ 0 - ?{Great Weapon Master?|No,0 |Yes,5} ]] GDM: [[ ?{Great Weapon Master?|No,0 |Yes,5} *2 ]]

So I tried that and it works but it does the same as what I had before in that it still asks me the question in the damage on whether I am using GWM vs just including it since I had said yes in the attack. But that is a cool way to put it thanks vInce

Sounds like damages are rolled after the attack? What sheet/system are you using? That might help solve the issue.

vince, Malaiit is using the D&D 5e by Roll20 sheet (Global modifiers are part of that sheet). Malaiit, Global Modifiers are not added directly to the attack or damage of existing attacks and damage, they are placed into another field. My suggestion for this is to use a separate attack line (the thing you don't want to do) that incorporates those modifiers. It is how I have it set up for my player's characters that use GWM or Sharpshooter. I am curious though, how do you have too many attack lines? Spellcaster? Edit: I played with it, no you cannot use any of the modifier fields in the Attack's attack line. None of them will accept a query. However, you could probably make a Macro to do it instead.

So, I thought about using a piece of equipment that could be toggled on/ off with zero weight attached to it - I have used this successfully in the past for mods such as an item giving a +2 to AC when equipped etc. Referencing the Wiki ( https://wiki.roll20.net/D%26D_5E_by_Roll20#Mods ) I have added the Melee Attacks -5, Melee Damage +10 to Mods line, but it doesn't seem to make any difference (whereas I can put AC +2 on quite easily)? I read somewhere that the melee weapon then has to be identified as such in Type, which it is when I check its details in the equipment section "Item Type: Melee Weapon" (ie check the sword I am using to test this). Any ideas why this doesn't work as it would seem an easy solution? Does it only apply if you homebrew a weapon, rather than acting as a global mod like AC or Spell Attack +n do? EDIT: NM, it would appear from this https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/5699857/list-of-available-mods-that-work-with-the-5e-oglsheet/?pageforid=5700528 that my final question is right, although you can apply a world of different mods to an entry like this, the attack and damage mods have to be allocated to an item classed as a melee weapon (and thus having its own entry in the Attacks and Spellcasting section). I am devastated and might have to turn to chocolate for consolation, I would have loved that as an option for a pair of gauntlets as toggling one thing on/off is twice as good as toggling an attack and a damage modifier.
