Not able to use links in Token GM Notes

Hi all, I'm not sure this is a bug per se, but it is sort of? I'm running a "Lost Mines of Phandelver" campaign and anyone who's run the game before will know that there are names of town "points of interest" as tokens on the map of the town. These tokens are really just images as they aren't attached to any character sheet. However, you are still able to double click them just like any other token and change it's "details", "gm notes" and "dynamic lighting" settings. I had the thought of using these tokens as shortcuts to the information about the locations, specifically using the GM notes to copy and past the information from the campaign. Therefore, clicking on the tokens would bring up the information in a timely manner and I wouldn't have to scramble to find the info elsewhere. Herein lies the problem, the GM notes are unusable for things like hyperlinks. Copying the information from the campaign directly to the token does copy over the hyperlink, but they aren't clickable hyperlinks because the GM notes are always in an "editable" state. Hitting the save button just closes the whole thing out instead of putting it into a read-only state. Like it does, for example, in a character sheet where you need to hit edit to get to an editable state and then clicking save will save any changes, while viewing the GM notes is possible on the "Bio & Info" tab. It's possible that I've missed where the GM notes are viewable without editing them, but I can't find anything. This was incredibly difficult to explain, I hope it makes some sense. Thanks.

Hi Timothy! It makes perfect sense, and is a big reason why the Supernotes and Reporter Mod scripts exist. Unfortunately, without a game created by an active Pro subscriber, scripts are unavailable. You can use token bubble fields for notes, and these can take links in markdown format if you send them to chat, as in some of the the tricks linked below. But in regular usage, the GM Notes on tokens were not built for that. I have seen Roll20 surveys for a map pins feature under development, which would do what you want and more, but it is not in production yet. Hi Keith, I've been using a macro to grab the bar info and throwing it to chat, but it's a lot of work formatting it with HTML so it outputs something legible. The reason I felt this was a bug(sorta) rather than intended use is that the option for hyperlinks exists yet is unusable. More a bug by omission, I guess. I have been thinking, as I rebuild the entire campaign, about going pro to take advantage of API scripts. Lost Mine is such a small campaign and the amount of work I've already put into it is staggering. I couldn't imagine doing this for anything larger. I'm running it for some newbie players, so hopefully they won't notice if screw it up too badly. Thanks Keith, I appreciate the help and the resources I've garnered from all the material on these forums from you. You're everywhere!
