map making help

New to making maps... can anyone tell me the best way to make sci-fi style maps for roll20... looking to make starship floor plans and that... I am hoping to find free things but if I need to pay to improve my games... so be it..... Please if you have any idea's or help ... I am open.... thanks for taking the time....

If you want to build the maps directly in Roll20, try using tiles. You can get some spaceship / sci-fi tiles on the Marketplace of Roll20 for a small cost for a set. <a href="https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search/space" rel="nofollow">https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search/space</a>... If you want to build maps outside Roll20 and then save it as 1 nice picture, and upload the pic to Roll20 as your map -- there are some programs you might want to try. ProFantasy sells some great programs for this. Joe Sweeny has some instructional videos for making High Space maps using ProFantasy software. You have the permission to download and use all the pictures and there are many modular dungeon, modern buildings and sci-fi modules so you dont have to pay lots of money to get your 5-6 tool boxes for different stuff.

If you are comfortable with using a photo program then use it to piece your map together. I use gimp which is free.
