Here's Da Story- Long ago Earth was being burned up by the sun. What created and sustained life was about to burn it all away. But the sun had one last secret to give mankind, how to use gravity to create heat and matter that could be used to fuel ships that could sustain life. Humans developed this artificial gravity tech allowing ships to sustain faster than the speed of light engines and move further into space. Desperate to leave the earth, governments, churches and giant corporations fueled a global economy of building refugee colony ships. These self-contained flying cities escaped the solar system before the cruel firewinds of the sun destroyed the earth and her sister planets, burning everything and everyone left behind. Generations of these fortunate survivors sustained life in colony ships and space stations and drifting asteroid field mining colonies. In addition to settling a few naturally habitable planets, humans scattered vastly apart in space. Using the gravity secrets to move and terraform hundreds of planets so they could sustain life. Wars were fought over control of all civilizations, and billions more died before a group of planets with the most money and industrial power formed an alliance and ruthlessly bought and killed their way to universal domination. This group, known as the Federal Alliance of Planets (F.A.P.) then declared all of space and every human in the universe under their authority. Some resisting settlements were wiped clear of life with terminator robots then sold them to the highest bidder, and other well defended planets were entirely destroyed with massive star destroyers. Divided, the outer worlds failed to organize a united resistance and lost the war for freedom. Not Far from the FAP core planets the poorly terraformed industrialized middle planets today are ruled by tyrants and criminal syndicates. Paying bribes to the F.A.P.O.s (Federal Alliance of the Planets Officials), they became officially recognized as local royalty and have legalized their extortion from within the law. The Independence Movement Militias (I.M.M.) also know as rebels or browns for the color of thier uniforms, fought a futile war against the F.A.P.O.s trying to resist their authoritarian control, and even after defeat, declarations of surrender, and amnesty, many were still prosecuted and labeled as traitors, many bankrupted and imprisoned so they could be striped of their ships and assets which were handed over to FAPO politicians and their elite friends. What is left of the IMM movement hides deep in space or underground conducting gorilla attacks often focusing on liberating slave camps illegally holding POWs, and free the political and resistance prisoners held without trial. The IMM is sustained by stealing weapons, pirating commercial goods owned by FAPO supported corporations, and using the money to finance sabotaging FAPO installations. The renegade acts of the IMM are portrayed by the media as terrorism but celebrated by the poor commoners and are despised by the rich elite. But the propaganda arm of the FAPO is brainwashing the next generation to only believe the versions of history taught in FAPO controlled school curriculums and media. For the good citizens that obey the new masters, the new government sells back your rights in exchange for a slow death by a thousand cuts of endless taxation. Their life is mostly working just to earn some fake food, air and water, and is not far from slavery. But a few still hold on to the dream that if they can just get a chance to break out into deep space and get a start on a good frontier planet, far away from the growing control of the FAPO they can build a new life for themselves. Intolerance of the law or even speaking out against FAPO politicians or local appointed royalty might get you “randomly” drafted for settlement on a barren planet or internment at a gulag factory work camp or toxic slave mine. And while a hot barren planet might sound nice, with no food or resources or work you might not be able to trust your neighbors when they invite you to a BBQ as they haven’t had any livestock on the dry farm lands in months. FAPO Government corruption is censored to re-enforce the propaganda of nationalism. Meager handouts and patriotic celebrations and media demonize thoughts of fair and equal democracy. Legal rights are nothing but lies told to make the tax slaves feel free while the political elite live above the law. Revolutionaries promise change but are just as willing to steal from and kill innocent people to support their cause as the government is. There is a lot of space out there and running might be the best option before you get tied down to money, love or ideals. The planets of deep space are hungry for goods. If you can get a ship you can make decent coin, but rights to trade might be owned by local gangs or officials with customs and bribes to be paid. Space pirates might be worse than the asteroids but better than the government. Lots of people never take to settling down on land and live a life free floating in the stars. These drift stations need goods and sometimes some protection if you are good in a fight. Food might buy you friends, drugs might buy you sex, money might buy you love, and guns are the only thing that buys you freedom. The loyalty of your crew might be the only thing on your ship that doesn’t break, but sometimes you have to do things you don't want to keep your ship flying. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi I am JeffreyJames and I have been a tabletop gm for 7 years and on roll20 for 3 years. Firewinds is a fair, easy to learn RPG system that allows for lots of role-play creativity and character development without class restrictions . Use a quick worksheet to make a character in 10 minutes and be ready to start role playing. Everyone has the same targeted AC system where damage literally could cost you an arm and a leg. The magic system can help you grasp your life force and improve your skills, make your attacks and defenses better, or even save your life. This year I upped my Roll20 game to have even better buttons and API macros written for you to click so you don't have to type rolls and now they decode your damage for you, and we use discord for voice and announcing upcoming games. If you have friends and want a private game we can make a regularly scheduled game and discord server for just your group and meet at certain times every week. THIS IS A PLAY WHEN YOU CAN SERVER - it is OK to JOIN LATE - or - LEAVE EARLY - or - MISS SESSIONS. We have a great group of 3-5 players that play about 2-5 times a week or whenever we can. . When you leave or don't show up your character will walk away or rejoin the party later when you can play, but the story will always go on with or without you. Experience points are handed out each secession, and loot is divided by the GM for the players so there is no fighting over it. If you want to come play you are welcome to try it out, we can give you a redshirt character with low stats and you can play for a day and make a character later , or we can make you a character if you show up before a game starts. GAME REQUIREMENTS -Be Professional about gaming, and keep the game moving during the game, It's cool to reference pop culture and music without getting into politics or political correctness or being a hater. -Be ready for your turn so you are respectful of other players time. We use a turn timer so you can see if you're next, you are welcome to say “skip me” if you are not ready yet. -Be both serious and funny, talk in character and out of character, and create rollplay with other players, not just the GM. If you want more roleplay, start it yourself with other players and npcs, But most people who complain about not enough RP dont realize it is not all the GMs Job. Get involved, have opinions about the situations in the game. -Care about the teammates and make sacrifices to help other players. This is a story of heroes not evil murder hobos or selfish rouges who will stab teammates in the back for loot. Rpg games among friends are better than random strangers who don't know or care about each other yet. We are here to have fun and help each other have fun. We play to be social and make friends. If you're not a nice person who wants to make friends and hang out with others and help each other succeed, you're probably not going to fit in. If you want to bond and fight for glory with fantasy friends to save the universe, come join us. -Act excited and stoked to play the game, we are recording and if you're not excited to play a game the viewers are not going to be either. Even if you had a bad day in real life, forget about it cause you are here now. -You must have a good mic and internet connection to roll20 and have discord. Because this is recorded , if you have a mic hum or party going on in the background the recording can't hear other players over your background noise. -YOU MUST BE 18+ and ok WITH GROSS VIOLENCE AND HORRIBLE LANGUAGE Or at least be 16 and act like and sound like you are 18, and never tell us you're not. - THIS IS NOT DND 5E It's ok that you don't know how to play this game, I will help you. It's designed to be easy to learn. I have played it with 6th graders and they can figure it out. When you start, all macros are already made for your character sheet. I will tell you when and where to click a button to roll until you figure it out yourself. THE MAGIC SYSTEM AND SPELLS ARE DIFFERENT THAN DND 5E If you want to use magic you will need to read the spellcasters guide and the spells up to the level you are before you try to cast a spell. There is a link to the spell guide and spell book in the game. THIS IS A CLASSLESS AND RACELESS RPG SYSTEM You are a barbarian/wizard/rogue/assassin/healer/bard - you can (and will need to) do it all - you don't have to count on party members to save you . You are not prohibited from doing things by stupid class and race restrictions designed to disable your character. If this is your first game your starting role will be a supporting character that helps our existing players. The story and plot is written around them and their backstory. If you play with us on a regular basis the story will eventually be written around your backstory and character. First time players will not be allowed to hijack the story line or what we call “player railroading” with an 18 page backstory. If you are interested in playing a game just about your character and have 2+ friends to join you , I will run a game just for your group. This is a hybrid between a campaign and a one shot, Only a limited amount of railroading when necessary to advance the story in an endless open world setting.
