How to do motion captured animated avatars in Roll20 video

Basically how to do this all free!: You need maybe 3(5) apps depending on your setup. My desktop doesn't have a webcam so I use my iphone as my webcam. 1. OBS studio https://obsproject.com/ 2. NDI Webcam that comes with the tools package. Also download NDI HX Driver plugin. https://ndi.video/tools/ also if using a phone you'll need to download the NDI HX Camera app for your phone. 3. Animaze https://www.animaze.us/ Note you might be able to get away with just using Animaze but since my desktop has an external webcam I need the other apps to make it work. Here are two videos that explain the process. Note the first video uses Adobe Character Animator but I think Animaze is better because it's free and you can make custom personas which allows for much more flexibility for TTRPG characters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQqMls6OxZA&t=931s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMEavSQc7Nw&t=308s Make sure your webcam/phone is connected via the app NDI webcam and on your phone. In the OBS app add your source from NDI. The NDI app has 4 sources so pick the correct source, usually remote connection 1. After that if it's broadcasting the video hit "start virtual camera" In the Animaze app pick or make your avatar. Then in the settings cog at the bottom go to the webcam settings and select "obs virtual camera" Then hit the "enable virtual camera". Finally in Roll20 go to the settings cog, select the audio video tab and make sure you have Animaze selected as your video input source. You'll have to select an audio source but if you are like me you use Discord so pick a source that has no activity. NDI webcam provides 4 sources so I picked the 3rd one.

Note for those who do already have access to Adobe Character Animator (since it requires paying a subscription). One advantage to it is that it is all in one. You can capture, record, and stream with the same app. No additional programs required (other than an image editor for creating assets). It's also Mac-Friendly, which many similar apps are not.
