Chat archive remains after reloading a duplicated game.

As title says: I duplicated a game and erased the current chat log, but once I quit out and reloaded the game, the chat log is back. Have not attempted on a non-duplicated game for obvious reasons. Pro user.

Hi Mike! Several things might be going on here. First, erasing the current chat just clears the in-game chat for that session. To completely delete all entries permanently for an entire campaign requires   clearing the Chat Archive . Different thing entirely. Based on your description, I'm not sure where duplicating the game comes into play, When you duplicate a game, you have the option of duplicating or skipping parts of the campaign. The Chat Archive is one of those parts. When duplicating, if you specifically disallow the duplicating of the chat archive it should not be present. If it is, you can delete it by following the directions linked above. If none of this is properly addressing the behavior you are experiencing, please post back with reproduction steps and I'll see if I can duplicate over here.
Ahh, that did it. I misunderstood what Clear Current Chat Log actually does, because the current chat log DOES disappear, so I thought my job was done at that point. Having it return after clearing it in-game and reloading is strange behavior IMHO.

Excellent. Clearing the chat archive used to be a much more common practice, before more safeguards were put in place to prevent bad data being sent to chat. This would occasionally crash the chat and prevent it from sending new text, even after a restart. The only solution was to "nuke the chat from orbit" so to speak. The Clear Chat Log is just an in-game solution. People might use it to remove an accidental spoiler, or if a player posted something the group found distracting or inappropriate.
