LFG Black Crusade / Fragged Empire / Iron Kingdoms / Star Wars: Edge OR Age; +0 GMT, Weeknights

Edited 1410845838
After some recent scheduling problems with one prospective group and an M.I.A. GM in a second; I am out looking for group, to sate my need to get out there and play some TTRPGS! First off, a little about myself: I'm an English speaking, GMT time zone player. I am presently embroiled in GM'ing two Long standing F.F.G. Deathwatch campaigns, as well as playing in a third long running Deathwatch campaign. I've been GM'ing and playing on and off for about six or so years now and am an entirely self taught GM; starting with F.F.G's Dark Heresy ( heretical cultist fun for all the family! ) and flitting between Deathwatch and Dark heresy, while occasionally dabbling in rogue trader and only war. It's safe to say that my Roleplaying so far has FIRMLY been rooted in the grim galaxy of the 41st millennium. However as of late I've been getting out into the wider community, trying to broaden my RPG horizons a bit. I decided that because I'd started with 40k theme'd RP's and that's where I've been ever since really, its time that changed! In the last year I've finally got round to playing D&D (3.5 Ed) and even got to try my hand at Iron Kingdoms and Star Wars: age of Empire briefly as well. However all three groups were fleeting at best, and for one reason or another swiftly ended. More recently I joined a 40k Black Crusade Group, hoping to try my hand as one of the bad guys, an "Evil" character. The GM disappeared, missing two sessions with zero advance warning, and no explanation. he's been silent ever since. -_- So here I am, Sans GM again, and still hungry to go out and try new things. The systems I'm looking to get into are as follows: FFG's Warhammer 40,000 Black Crusade (Need to try and get my "White hat" off, and my "black hat" firmly on and play me some Evil neer-do-wells! FOR KAOS! Death to the False emperor!) Iron Kingdoms (I have played the Intro adventure in the CORE and after my first taste of Immoren, am eager to play again!) Star Wars: Edge of the Empire / Age of Rebellion (Also played a brief intro adventure with an Ex-Imperial Ace character, REALLY enjoyed the dice mechanic and want try again, simply because of the narrative devices it enables! Also... sort of on a massive SW kick as of late...) Right now I am free to play weekday evenings, except Friday, from about 6-7PM onwards +0 GMT (Please note, that as of writing, closer to 6PM may be trouble due to upcoming work commitments, as hours have not yet been confirmed; post will be updated as and when confirmed times are made available to me; apologies for the inconvenience). As far as rules go, I'm quick to hit the ground running and while I'd prefer newbie friendly groups, if the GM is willing, I am willing to dive in head first. I have some experience in all the systems listed however small (expect for Fragged Empire, 0 Sessions played.), So I don't believe that will be problem. If I sound like someone you'd want in your group, please just drop a comment here and I'd be more than happy to thrash out some of the finer details with you! I'm also available Via Skype and E-mail if you'd prefer to chat that way, just send me a PM here and we'll continue the conversation on your chosen medium.
Bumpty bump, Bump.
New here, but I'd love to try and start a Star Ward Edge of Empire game.
@dead: With you as a GM? If so... tell me more...
Yeah, it'd be a thematically pure EotE, but I'd allow material from the other lines from FFG's game. It's be a sort of sandboxy game empathizing player motivation but with a strong plot outline to help motivate you, I like space combat, but it'd mostly be intriguie and two fisted pulpy action.
What type of experience do you have as a GM and with the EoE game system? What type of players are you looking for?
I've run a year long D&D 4E campaign, a two year Vampire Requiem campaign, a few Paranoia one shots, and most importantly a a three month long EoTE game until IRL issues occured the group had to go it's seprate ways.
Paranoia! Off to a good start there. I've never personally played Paranoia, but I have read and hear from friends who've played it over the years that its a fun if challenging game to GM; if simply because the idea is to get the players to turn on each other, and that can be harder than you'd think when playing with a group of friends. Allowing Races/Gear/Weapons etc from the other systems is a good idea and a welcome one. FFG's SW systems seem to have been built with interchangeability in mind when they were planning it all out. Which is a nice touch, on their part. A sandbox to play in, with an overarching theme or plot sounds pretty nice, as does the: Dead M. said: intriguie and two fisted pulpy action. Less punchy, punchy and more "Dashing Daring Do!" sounds like a plan to me. I say that because in the, albeit BRIEF, AoR campaign I played in previously; Thats pretty much how the GM rolled. An occasion fight if we blundered into one, but always giving us the option to walk away (if we could 'See' the way out) or giving us more options using the advantage system. Good example: Playing as an Ex-Imperial, still walking about in my Imperial flight suit, we used it to great effect to confused and mislead imperal troopers on a number of occasion. Something as simple as that led to some funny, and memorable encounters during the short lived campaign. It was all very "Just pretend you're wearing the binders Chewie." I'll admit, I was initially angling for AoR rather than EotE given the choicec however what you've revealed thus far has intrigued me quiet a bit. I'd be very interested in playing your EotE campaign. I know its early on the cycle, but could you give me a brief one paragraph or so fluff/sizzle intro, something to give me a narrative feel for what you'd be aiming for. Because you've said "What" you'd run, not "how" you'd run it, and I am interested in hearing more.
It has been one year since the Battle of Hoth, and no matter what the Imperial propaganda posters tell you kid, the war is far from over and the Empire has never been weaker. Darth Vader has to rent his men from Jabba the Hutt, Mandalore has outright successful kicked the Empire off it's homeworld, and of course there is you, me, and the Outer Rim, One bag of money to just waiting for someone to grab it. The Empire is way busy fighting off the Rebels to care much about what we do in the Mid Rim, let alone as far out in boonies as we are. Jobs are everywhere. Smuggling to avoid taxes to giving the Rebs more firepower, hunting those same frakkin Rebs when the Empire wants revenge for who just shot them up, and given we're in the Harkonn Sector, right next to Wild Space, so many blank spaces in and around us idiots will pay out the nose for to just fill in, let alone find neat stuff. And for the neat stuff, well I hear the Rebs and the Empire is paying top credits for crumbs and shadows of something big they both know is out there.
Awesome. I'm officially Sold. Now seeing as you're happy to GM @Dead M.. We just need to sort of the: Who? - What's the maximum and minimum number of players your looking for? - Are you look exclusively on Roll20 for players or can we suggest/Refer folks we know who'd be interested? Where? - Voice Comm's. Yes or No? Also, if yes, Skype? How? - Character / rulebook Storage. Dropbox do for you? I actually have some of the EotE stuff, CORE and some Splatbooks, in decent or OEF .PDF format and would be happy to distribute to the group. When? - How often? weekly, bi-weekly, monthly? - What Day of the week? (Monday may not work for me personally, due to someone resuscitating a Black Crusade group that I'd left due to a missing GM. However someone has stepped up and now that's Rolling on, not got the specifics as of yet. More info as and when I have it.) - What times? @Dead M. What time zone are you based in? best if we work around the GM to begin with perhaps? What sort of Time Frame are we looking at between start of work and the first completed and playable session? Also, is it perhaps advisable for their to be a Session "0", for character creation, etc? Just a thought, as I know some GM's prefer to do a character creation session and some GM's expect you to be ready to Rock Day 1 with a completed Character. Oh, ehr, now I think about it. If you're griping for digital assets, I have a few Heroic map tile sets that I've optimised for Roll20, that I'd be happy to share if it helps. They More medieval/Fantasy theme'd than anything else, but there's a couple generic woodland/plains/forest ones in there as well. Fancy setting up a campaign page and taking any further discussions there Dead M.?
"Fancy setting up a campaign page and taking any further discussions there Dead M.?" Yes, I'll be doing that tomrrow, along with answering all your questions.
Having found groups for an amazing TWO of the group's I'd hoped to join, and being in talks with @Dead M. and anouther GM; I'm no longer going to be posting here in this thread, as I'm no longer looking for group! Happy gaming!
