I’m looking for 2-ish more players to join my ongoing campaign that plays at 4pm-ish PST on Saturdays. The starting time is a bit flexible and could change. I have 2 players already, and a 3rd who can only show up during certain months based on their classes. This campaign centers around the efforts of the party to rebuild/protect the river town of Dunholdt. Magical storms rage across the continent creating dangerous mutated creatures that leave behind strange crystals containing powerful magic. Times will be tough, and it will be up to your party to decide where to focus their efforts to rebuild and protect the town. Player requirements: Any skill level, even brand new to D&D is okay. I love new players, and the fresh perspective they often bring to games. Must have a microphone and be willing to use discord. Must be able to show up consistently, and send a message when they can’t. 18+ strongly preferred. The content of the campaign is not 18+. In simple terms, this is a dungeon heavy campaign centered around rebuilding a recently recaptured town. There is some roleplay, generally at the start and end of player chosen missions, but mostly the campaign is combat heavy. This campaign has moderate homebrew rules, with a custom item creation system and basically the skill system from D&D 3.5E, the details of which are below. Most sessions will have multiple encounters, with the party usually facing off against multiple enemies at a time. I tend to run close to the intended 6-7 encounters per adventuring day. The setting is middle fantasy, mid to high magic, and is relatively gray in terms of morality. I would say that as a DM I tend to put a lot of work into my games, both in terms of combat and roleplay. I have run several campaigns before, including one that lasted 2 years. If you want a combat heavy campaign where you can use illusion magic, items like ball bearings and careful planning to really help swing the odds in your favor, then I’m sure this will be a great campaign for you. I tend to run closer to rules as intendended as opposed to rules as written. As for roleplay, I fully believe that D&D roleplay at its core is a collaborative storytelling experience. I like working with my party to make sure that players can have a real effect on the world and that it isn’t just my story that I am telling to them. The story arcs that I run is the core of this and they are about 90% player chosen. Major rule variants: Magic shard enchanting system. Enchant your items with various effects and use them to give your character new abilities in and out of combat. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GsJ8uCWwCTESl9wrVCIhEYMBUugyKi3U7hxi2NLFPjM/edit Changes to the skills system that you can read about here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jy4Tu7O7K4cdJPbv2Oh-YF8UgaxsTXoVEqmDXpjNMHU/edit If you are interested in joining the campaign please answer the questions below in a reply to this post or in a message. In your own words, how would you describe yourself as a player? How much experience do you have playing 5e, D&D in general, and other tabletop games? Extra: If you want to, please give a basic idea of a character you might want to play. This isn’t necessary, and I do understand that a lot of people, myself included, like to hear more about a campaign before deciding what to play. The party currently has a Noble Born Soulknife Rogue, a halfing armorer artificer, and a bard/hexblade kenku. The party is also currently level 5, and any one joining will start at their level. If you have any questions, or aren’t sure yet about the game, feel free to post below and I will do my best to answer your questions or give additional details.
