players can see though light sources.

this is the torch tokens dynamic lighting setting. this is the player's vision. I cannot figure out why the players can see the area with the torch when they do not have line of sight.

Hi Tenebris Lux! How are you testing the player view? If it is "Rejoin as player", you may be running into issues where the GM has explicit control over a token in the "shouldn't be visible" area. Double check all tokens in that area and make sure than none of them have sight or specified permissions. It looks like that torch might have vision as well as light. Is it attached to a character you, tenebris l., have control of? Like a torch character that you pull out of the journal tab? The acid test is to use a  Dummy Account  to test lighting setups. There are tips in that link (paragraph 1) as to how to most efficiently do this.
I ran a session today as well, where one of my players could see into a room that had a torch lighting effect added, even though there were doors and dynamic lighting walls between them. Was a large custom map (for reference Wave Echo Cave from Lost Mines map size of 73 x 90, they were in room 12 by the path to room 15, and could see into room 11), confirmed the door was closed and locked (so they wouldn't have been able to open it). For further clarity, it was only one player out of 5 that could see it, when they refreshed their web browser it went away (thankfully they were honest about it, asking if they should be able to see it).  When I tried the look through players eyes on my end, I couldn't see it either.  Didn't think to ask them to take a screenshot at the time sorry.  If it happens again I will though.

keithcurtis: no one has any permissions over the "GM torch" character sheet (as you can see in the screen shot). the second part of your question is where it gets  weird. opening the gm torch token options from the token show that the torch does not have vision turned on, but if I open the token options from the character sheet then it says that the torch does have vision. farther more nothing I do can change that. I have turned it off saved and opened it again just to have it on again.  the left is opened directly for the token the right from the character sheet. additionally I do not understand why any of this would allow my players to see that location if they do not have access to it.  on a possibly related note, I have had reports from my players that they can see from each other's characters perspectives. I believe that this is happening when one of the characters tokens is set to emit light. (I have checked to make sure that no one accidentally has control of another's character sheet.)

That is strange. The difference in settings is possibly explainable if a token was dropped from the sheet and changed while on the board. The sheet will only reveal the properties of the default token, not any subsequent changes to a token in place. But it doesn't sound like you've done that? Are you running any scripts or browser extensions that might be interfering? This is intriguing. If you would like to PM me an invite and a bump to GM, I'd be happy to investigate.

I believe I finally found the issue. There were several tokens on the map layer that had sight turned on. Apparently, this allows all players to see, and map layer tokens are not blocked by DL lines.
