I run paid dnd games but i got my background starting dming in more free form games like world of darkness and shadowrun where the bosses don't have 100 HP and everyone is mortal. Except for the body 10 Troll with Kamakazi bio-implants but that doesn't have to be your story. Shadowrun has tons of options and i been running it for two years allowing you to make whatever you want with over 20+ expansion books to choose from. If you are new to shadowrun i'll still welcome you as i can walk you through character creation and the rules are extremely intuitive after a few sessions.
