So this game got to rolling this week but some folks were no shows, so looking for new players! https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/379580/the-way-of-fenris The concept blurb: You are a dog boy, wolfen, kankoran, or coyle on Earth at the time of Rifts. The setting is the New West of North America, and you are apart of the all canine mercenary company known as Fenris. Your job is to traverse the New West. We will be using RIFTS 30th Anniversary edition (or the 1990 First Edition), Lone Star, New West, and Spirit West. We will also be using Conversion Book 1 (revised). You may create your character using the Dog Pack R.C.C., the Wolfen, Coyle, and Kankoran races (or species). You also may choose any O.C.C. You are part of a mercenary company --- an adventurer in the New West. You may generate your characters by rolling 4d6 8 times, drop lowest, total up the rest 8 times, and arrange to taste. Adding an additional die as required. You may choose any O.C.C. or Dog Pack R.C.C. from Rifts or Lone Star. Since I'm testing Lone Star. YOU WILL NOT BE A PART OF THE COALITION! To start, equipment is limited to these books as well. The group is small so 4-5 players + GM The GM is Elton, their discord is elton8878 if you have questions.
But I don't want to be a Dog Boy or any of those races. I wanna play the character that I want to play within reason. When a GM takes a way that much choice right off the bat, that's when I feel like that particular game is not for me.
Unfortunate. a narrow mindset can be a tragedy with Rifts expansive universe. But this GM has a story they want to tell and their story is told from the perspective of Canine D-bee Mercs gun slinging their way about the New West. And the players selected so far are a lively chatty bunch so today was rather fun session today despite no shows. Ah - their was a comment as well, about the limited book selection being more about simplifying the crunch whilst they get used to wearing their GM hat than over limiting character options. But the Wolfen/Dogboy part is key to the story, so it's not negotiable. Good luck finding a game that suits your tastes in the future. For everyone else, Elton has confirmed they are looking for 2 more players. So good luck applying.
Damn, this sounds like fun. Unfortunately I can't do Mondays.
If you ever run a Wednesday/ Thursday game I'm in for sure. To bad I can't play this one. I am not free on Monday's either. Good luck and have a blast. ( you see what I did there??? Lol. Some times I'm amazed by my sense of humour.....)
FYI. Normally most folks cannot see the game via direct link. We get the "doesn't exist or you don't have permission" message. We can however see the Game Listing if there is one. :) IDK how I will work with the group dynamic, but I'm willing to put on an animal suit. Sent a friend request to elton. Wasn't sure what time the game is and the time zone. :)
I would be interested in playing but do need to know start time and time zone of the game.

OK but isn't restricting what races a player can choose to play in of itself a narrow mindset?

OK but isn't restricting what races a player can choose to play in of itself a narrow mindset? No, it's creating a narrative and is very much a good GM's responsibility. Palladium has often said that they never intended to provide game balance themselves, instead leaving that concept up to the GM's. Players who publicly hassle GM's about it tend to find themselves lacking games to play.
Totally agree with Dhrekkin. Some limitations can enhance creative play and put a stop to player ego strokers. Seems like a good adventure but the link is dead.
