Range Function

A range function to insert a numerical value for the distance between @{select}ed and @{target}ed or @{target|target1}ed and @{target|target2}ed tokens would be peachy! Or a function to pull the x or y coordinates of a single token could do the same thing and could be used for more applications.

Could you describe what it would be used for? We already have a measurement tool to determine range. Additionally, the API (a mentor level feature) can determine co-ordinates.
Automatic calculation of range penalties to attack rolls is just one option.

What HoneyBadger said would be the first thing I'd use it for, but I can see a function having other uses, such as race or chase sequences. Looked into the possibility of Api, but I just don't know enough about java script to get any use out of it.

If you ask the API forum they may come up with a simple script for you to get distance calculations.
He's not a mentor. The API is out of the question.

It was established in the second post that the API is a mentor level feature. I was addressing his point that he does not know javascript. It is up to Will K. if it is "out of the question" or not.
For now it is, but im still considering it. I wouldn't mind trying my hand at scripting. That said this is the suggestion forum, so I'm not trying to get anyone to solve the problem for me. I just found something I thought might be useful addition for myself and others in future updates and thought I'd suggest it.

Will , I am not commenting on the suggestion itself, it is up to the Devs if they will consider it or not. My purpose is to help users with the tools we have available. With that said, this sort of individualized automation is why the API was introduced to Roll20.
Sorry, I appreciate the help, didn't mean to sound like I was criticizing. I didn't want to eat too much of your time looking for a solution for something that isn't a problem. It was just a thought I had while playing around with macros that I wanted to throw out there and see if anyone else would be interested in something similar.

No problem, I enjoy problem solving, it's why they made me a Moderator. :)
