“Free Company” is an episodic sandbox campaign for the Borg-like indie game DEATH IN SPACE. It all begins with a fresh crew of ambitious spacefarers steering the helm of their first spacecraft to embark on a series of contracts and missions across the broken Tenebris system. ▪️ Will you choose to navigate the perilous trade routes as space truckers, plunder indiscriminately as pirates, sell your services as off-world repair experts, scavenge the entrails of forgotten stations and decommissioned megaships, chart abandoned subsectors, conduct desperate rescues in deep space, or take on mercenary work for the highest bidder? ▪️ Of the factions and power groups fighting over the remains, will you side or make foes with the fragmented remnants of once-mighty authorities, whatever organisations the megacorps of the past have degenerated into, the warlord dynasties descended from the Gem Wars, the various cults and faith arising from the Void reaching out from beyond, even a straight and honest pirate alliance, or just outsmart everyone by keeping your nose out of their petty and dangerous games? # What is DIS? DEATH IN SPACE is a sci-fi/horror/recyclepunk role-playing game that puts you in the boots of space truckers, blue-collar contractors, off-world survivors, and jury rig experts. Far, far away in a future, the edge of the known universe tightens its grip around a tiny cluster of systems, all that remains of the interstellar transhuman civilization. Survivors of the last war salvage and reuse whatever they can from derelict space hulks and decommissioned space stations littering the Tenebris system. Still, there are always those who believe there is a better tomorrow to be built from the parts. Features: ▪️ A rules-light D20 system that makes DEATH IN SPACE one of the easiest Borg-like games to pick up. ▪️ A wide range of opportunities to explore, salvage, repair, and role-play, from rescuing tech thought long lost from the far reaches of space to repairing critical systems aboard, making friends with or crossing denizens made of meat or code and everywhere in-between. ▪️ A quick and easy system to roll up unique characters with quirky origins and grimy backgrounds that you can build upon with ease. ▪️ A spacecraft or space station to begin your journey with. ▪️ An open world of tightly packed technological landscapes designed to welcome collaborative world-building. ▪️ Some great opportunities to die in space. # Session zero Session zero is free, and there’s no prep required on your side. We’ll start with an introduction to the setting and the system, talk over expectations about the planned campaign, and cover safety tools. If all’s well, we’ll build your spacecraft, characters, and figure out where you start out in the Tenebris system.
