How to add Dice Bonuses to Initiative?

1715493702

(This has now been solved, thank you Gauss!) Recently, I have gotten an item from my dungeon master that permanently gives me the effects of the "Gift of Alacrity" spell (sorta like blood hunters always having sanctuary), which gives me a bonus of 1d8 to my initiative rolls, however, I haven't been able to figure out a way of inserting "+1d8", or any of its variants to initiative rolls, if anyone that knows more about the platform could help me either set the initiative bonus to +1d8 or set up a macro that rolls 1d20+5+1d8, that'd be greatly appreciated!

Hi Liz,  Which character sheet are you using? If you don't know the name please supply a screenshot. (Note: the game system is not sufficient information as there are game systems on Roll20 with multiple character sheets).
Hey Gauss, This is my fourth attempt at trying to send this message, so sorry for my late reply, my group uses the default DND Fifth Edition character sheets that are made by Roll20 (The one that has compatibility with Charactermancer)

I am assuming you mean "D&D 5e by Roll20"? If so, this will solve it for you:  @{selected|wtype}&{template:simple} {{rname=^{init-u}}} {{mod=@{selected|initiative_bonus}}} {{r1=[[@{selected|initiative_style}+1d8+@{selected|initiative_bonus}@{selected|pbd_safe}[INIT] &{tracker}]]}} {{normal=1}} @{selected|charname_output} You can put that in an Ability on the Attributes and Abilities tab on your Character. If your initiative rolls also use advantage please let me know and I can give you the version with advantage.  How I did this:  1) click the initiative button on the character sheet.  2) Click the Chat box (where you type) on the Chat tab 3) hit the up arrow on your keyboard 4) copy the text 5) modify the character name to say selected instead (this is an optional step) 6) add +1d8 to the roll
Yes that was exactly it! Thank you very much for helping me with this, works perfectly! Also no I won't be needing an advantage version, though thank you for asking
Hello Gauss, not sure you will be notified of this message but there is no cost to try. I used your macro, adding it to my existing D&D 5e by Roll20 as a New Ability under the tab you mentioned. However when clicking on the macro, and even with the correct character selected it doesn't work. I tried with selected and with my character name, in both case I got the same string of error (minus the fact that it either say selected or the character name, and s or w for the last message: No character was found for 'Wyatt Son' No character was found for 'Wyatt Son' No character was found for 'Wyatt Son' No character was found for 'Wyatt Son' No character was found for 'Wyatt Son' No character was found for 'Wyatt Son' SyntaxError: Expected "(", ".", "[", "abs(", "ceil(",. "d", "floor(", "round(", "t", "{", [ INt], [+1\-] or [O-9] but "W" found If selected was left (as I used the first time ), then the same messages are displayed, as mentioned : No character was found for 'selected' SyntaxError: Expected "(", ".", "[", "abs(", "ceil(", "d", "floor(", "round(", "t", "{", [ |\t], [+|\-] or [0-9] but "s" found. I can only figure that the 6 first messages are corresponding to the 6 initial mentions of the character in the macro. But I cannot figure why it is not fetching the information properly.  Let me know if I can provide anything else to help you. And thank you for having taking the time to read me. Best, Salias, alias Wyatt in the Curse of Strahd campaign

Please edit your token, screenshot what you find there.  Also, please screenshot your character sheet.  Post both screenshots.  My guess, there is something wonky with the character's name.
Sure, here are the token after clicking on edit, and an overview of the main, options, and skills and attributes pages of my character. Most is in English, only some lore bit are in French so I believe it should not be a problem. Let me know if you need something specific, or if I missendurstood one of the request.

Ok, so first problem, you are on a phone?  Please see what happens when you are on a computer.  Also, which browser are you using?  Second, could you please have the DM supply the Token Settings screenshot? I need to see that the character is properly connected to the token.
Hello, Yes, I am for now, unfortunately I am currently without computer. I asked my fellow player (who have a computer) and they have the same issue.  I have a session this evening, so I will ask him to check the token. Note that I created the token by pulling my Character Name (the one appearing in the list of characters available for the game) and dropping it on the play area. Not sure if it change anything.  Again thank you for your kind interest in my small issue, and sorry for the late reply, it was a crazy couples of day 😅
