Looking for people to start a gestalt rules game in 3.5 or 5e (will also need dm

For people interested and you are unfamiliar with gestalt here is the breakdown. https://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm it is a fun play type with powerful combat and plenty of room for flavor. Let me know if there is interest and we can build something. Looking to play Friday evening or sometime on sat/sun (mountain standard time) open on how often and time per session we can discuss further as we build the group.
Any thoughts on what setting you'd want to play in? 3.5 is my home edition and I've been looking to spread out from the tiny group I know that still plays in it.
im open to setting and open to 3.5 and 5e
Id be down to try this out. I’ve only played 5e, but I am open to trying 3.5
Gestalt works for both.
I'm already DMing one free, long-term 3.5 campaign and not interested in dedicating myself to running another, but I know the system well enough that I can help teach it. Local forever DM wants to just play.
Thanks Jessica, I know the system fairly well myself but if we can get like 3-4 players really need a dm……..not trying to dm currently myself I am currently running a shadow dark campaign I dm irl
DMs are the hard part, aren't they? I'd be willing to run a one shot for free, but yeah, already running one campaign makes the idea of running another sound more like a chore than a game.
I mainly run Pathfinder 1e (kinda like AD&D 3.75...Jade Regent atm) for my long-term group. I could be persuaded to run an intro / one-shot with 3.5. If the group meshes really well say a story arc / season. Pacific Time here, FYI. Feel free to PM me if you guys get a solid set of players in the next week or so and I'll go digging through my storage bins for the books. Cheers!

The 3.5 game I run is technically a blend of 3.5 and PF1e, so I don't see a problem with a DM that mainly runs PF1e! My experience is that they're *very* easy to translate between, and PF has *tons* of extra content useful to both players and DMs.
I would like to try it out but I only know of 5e
If all are interested we could run a level 10 gestalt 1 shot. ( no traditional multiclassing just the 2 classes you choose), I can work out the stat rules, starting gold/gear and books that are allowed if we have a DM that will run it. and shoot for next Saturday?
I would be up for it but if we have people already, findind a gm is easier
agreed. who can commit to saturday 8/10/24 at 9am MST (im in AZ).

FYI if we're doing gestalt, I just prefer using the KISS method. Pick 2 classes. At each level gain both class features and whatever is better, period. So if you were fighter and wizard: d10 vs. d6(d4 if 3.5) hp, weapon / armor use profs as fighter, bonus fighter feat, bonus wizard feat, spellcasting, class skill as both fighter and wizard, good fort and will save, crappy reflex save, and so on. Note that you do not get the ability to ignore spell failure in armor as that is not a feature of either class. I also use elephant in the room feat taxes and every class gain 2 more skills as class skills. 8 am in the morning for me on a saturday is a bit rough. Is that the best time for everyone else? Also if we use PF for those who haven't one of the biggest difference is 1) no level adjustment 2) character class archetypes (they still have prestige classes) but archetypes replace certain class features and tweak a given class. Like if you wanted to wield big weapons as a fighter, you can do it with feats/race and also with a class archetype. Or both. ***EDIT Replying to Jess's note about 3.5/PF fusion. I also have no issues with folks who want to play a 3.5 character. There will be wrangling (like the skills Spot and Search and Listen is now just Perception) and where they are 3.5 and PF versions we'll usually go with the PF version (unless you really want your wizard to roll with d4 hit dice instead of d6). So bring on those reborn dragonborn whisper gnome dragonfire adepts...though I am a bit fuzzy with a lot of 3.5 since it has been a while. :)
I suggest we make a discord server and talk further there
ive never played PF1 but we can work it out. ill set up a discord and link it here. we can bump time a little later if needed.
me neither, 5e is my choice
im 3.5 or 5e typically. Currently a DM for shadowdark lol
ok, but if we can get enough players, find a gm is easier we would just have to organize
Setting up the discord now. I think Rerednaw is going to DM a oneshot for right now and if we have a good time with it we can look for a perm DM to play those characters.

I'm interested if Pathfinder 1e involved; Not a big fan of 3.5e
I do have an existing game on Saturday evenings, starting 5pm EST. 7am is way too early for me, though...
I would be interested in playing or dming if the game could be 9pm or 10pm central time starting on saturday or sunday nights. If dming I would allow both pathfinder 1 and 3.5 rules as they are both very compatable together allowing you to choose your classes from either.

Yah I was thinking about maybe starting closer to noontime Pacific on Saturday. Alternatively I could make a Friday night say startime around 4-6 PM Pacific. For now going with a Saturday start time ~noonish Pacific (GMT +7). -> moved to 11 AM for now. Further updates will be via the actual roll20 game session reminder. EDIT: game invite is in discord. Or feel free to DM here and I'll send it. EDIT #2: Someone else will have to step up. Sorry. You folks know why. :)
lets do around noon pacific
