Old gamer wishing to relive childhood…

I am 49 years old and missed out playing DnD as a kid. I’ve played video games since 1980 many rpg jrpg so on but never got chance play a real dnd game. Just wondering if I could be pointed in right direction where I can find a DM or game willing help me to have fun and make some memories 

Did  you mean DND (the boxes) or AD&D (PHB has the big orange demon statue with a thief prying the gem out)?
