How Can Players See Other Background Feature Options Available to Them?

Character Sheet:  D&D 5E (2014) by Roll20 Just as the title asks.... I am starting The House of Lament campaign, and I want the players to feel free to replace one of their Background Features with the other Background Features included and available to them, specifically from VRGR.   But I can't even find a way to do that.  :(

Hi Colby, The Dungeon Mann,  Forgive me, I am a bit confused. Could you describe the problem in more detail? How are you not able to modify the sheet?

If you own it, you can share Van Richtens (and other compendium items) with your players via the game settings page for your game. THEN If you are allowing them to create characters within the game they will have access to the options from those shared resources while using the charactermancer, or i guess while browsing the compendium in game. EDIT -  once you've done the compendium share, create a second account on roll20, invite it to become a player on your game and test it out. e.g. I use firefox for my DM account, and chrome for my player (tester) on the other screen. V useful to see what players will see.
Sorry.  Let me be more detailed. I own VRGR.  Compendium sharing is turned on for this game.  I have less than 5 players currently.  But to note, even on my account I can't seem to do what I'm asking about. VRGR provides 2 new Backgrounds (Haunted One & Investigator), and then there are 5 additional Background Features (Inheritor (NOT from SCAG), Mist Wanderer, Spirit Medium, Trauma Survivor, and Traveler). Background Features can be replaced with other Background Features. For example, if a player chooses the Haunted One Background, but wants to replace the Heart of Darkness Feature with the Mist Wanderer Feature, then somehow we should be able to do this on their Character Sheet. But how?   I'm not even seeing where the included Background Features are even brought up in the Charactermancer so that my players know it's an option to choose a different Background Feature. So how is this done? I mean I guess I could take it upon myself to go into every sourcebook I own and for every campaign, which is tons, and find out which options aren't being presented to players, and make my own sheet that tell players "by the way, even though you aren't presented these options in the Charactermancer or the Level Up, these are also available to you..." but given that Roll20 advertises that there are 6 Background Features included which can replace any other standard Background Feature, but all it's doing is giving the paragraph text, and that's if you know to search for it specifically, which is an unreasonable expectation of a player with given paid services so that these specific things aren't possible to be overlooked.  So is the only option to achieve this to choose a Background, then go to the Features & Traits on the Character Sheet, and edit the paragraph text, but still only if you or the player even knew it was one of your options to begin with?   Please see the included screenshots for reference. Thanks in advance all!

Ahhh I see the problem, you are using the Charactermancer. The Charactermancer does not always follow the rules, especially the background rules. (Ever see a collision between class and background skill proficiency? The Charactermancer incorrectly prioritizes the background skill proficiency.) Short version? ignore it. Build it out normally, then drag/drop the new Background Feature from the Compendium to the sheet and delete the old one.
Well that's a bummer.  But thanks for the confirmation. But just to confirm, there's no way for players to know of these alternative Background Options when creating their character? Hoping this will be fixed in the new Character Builder since it is an essential part of creating a character's backstory, even if it very rarely affects the mechanics of the game.  Is there a better place for me to post this for developer's to see? Thanks again for all your help! Edit:  So I used the sidebar Compendium (Beta version) to drag and drop Mist Wanderer onto the Character Sheet...I get the usual "Accepting" message, but then it never puts it in anywhere...is this maybe not even possible?

To answer your question about how players know about them I'd suggest reading.  To do that click on compendium: type in "Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft" (without quotes) and open the entry. It is the book in the Compendium form.  Not all compendium entries are drag/drop. For those I just copy/paste the text. Here is h ow to do that: In the Compendium search and find the entry. Open it, copy the text.  Go to the character sheet, in the bottom left corner of the core page click the + sign. Paste the text into the big field.  Name the entry, select background, click the cog.  For Devs to see:  This probably falls into 'incorrectly set up Compendium' which would be a "bug". I'd send in a report via the Help Center . Note: The old compendium wouldn't have let you drag/drop this section since it is not drag/droppable. The New Compendium has an issue where it allows you to do that but doesn't give you a notice.
