System - D&D 5e Platform - Roll20 + discord Time - Biweekly Sunday 6:00pm EST/EDT Experience: Open to all levels. Looking for 1 player. Caveats: 18+. I'd like for each player to bring at least three NPC's to the game, two friendly and one hostile. Hostile NPC doesn't need to want you dead, just opposing goals. Your character should be integrated into the world, most importantly: How they fed themselves up to this point, why did they leave that life, and why would they want to join our party. Very RP heavy, lighter on combat maybe a 70/30 split. There is an expectation of consequences. The story is entirely character driven. Major events do not need to be followed and will happen regardless, however your character's actions can impact the greater world and narrative. I try to run a true sandbox, story-driven game, if that isn't your style please disregard the ad. Only humans. Game has been going for 2 years. The party's characters are a group of zealots, misanthropes, and agitators. The party does not trust each other, and are only together for convenience because no others would tolerate them. The party often quarrels and agitates each other because of their differing political and religious allegiances. The party has murdered one official, accidentally started two vampire outbreaks, and slain three demons. Mass combat and some homebrew rules are being used. There are no heroes. The setting is intentionally very gray, with very little black or white morality. The game is gritty and real, with real people suffering the consequences of everyone's actions. There are no heroes. The setting is entirely homebrew, with homebrew gods, cultures, and enemies to fit the flavor. The homebrew enemies and setting are to ensure that the player and character start at the same level of ignorance. Think Bioshock's Rapture in an eternal winter hellscape rather than underwater with renaissance tech and severe political strife. There is only one city, with no other cities known to the citizens of Teluros. The city is populated by five cultures. These cultures are ancestral enemies who have declared to set aside their differences to weather the winter. However, this dream is not the reality. Old grudges die hard, old wounds haven’t healed and many endeavor to create new ones. Teluros is cramped and dirty, blood is as common as snow on the cobblestones. Trust is a commodity few can afford, and everyone has people they're trying to protect. The women who run the city have little regard for those at the bottom, more worried about how to keep the city from freezing and maintain the city's fragile peace. A mysterious plague has ravaged the city stealing the lives of hundreds of thousands. It is unaffected by any Mallaen medicine or Andreli healing. The crops are no longer imported from New Fire Province, and the lighthouse guild has offered no comments. Cults have risen in opposition or in alliance to the political paradigms. The Saints strength has waned and darkness closes in. Yet, you are another of the countless lost, forgotten, or forsaken souls simply trying to survive. Unperturbed by the great catastrophes that strike the world and more worried where your next meal lies. A pawn in the game played by other, older forces. The city survives because of men and women like you, whose lives are cheap. Will you rise above your station, or become just another corpse to litter the street?
