- Hey there, thanks for stopping by! This is a West Marches styled d100 campaign, with a few tweaks to work in a populated setting. In this case, the island is the "frontier", and incidents can be found by exploring, following leads or randomly appear on your to-do board. There is no date set, as players get together and plan which outing they want to go on. As long as I'm available in the afternoons and evenings on weekdays EST time, a session can be run. Any more specifics will be provided at the time in case I have something come up. As this is a West Marches style game, I'm looking for a large amount of players that can work in separate smaller groups, and swap over go after things as they wish. So initially I'm looking for about 10 players, at least. The Setting: Ellowwood is a homebrew setting based on some written works of mine. The world carries a pseudo-Victorian flavor, drawing inspiration from the Old West and Victorian eras, esoteric mysteries and linked worlds. There's some additional elements of world-hopping, genre crossovers and discovering the lost and mysterious. If you've ever heard of Old Gods of Appalachia , the game takes a little bit of inspiration from that and their official RPG module. The world resides five centuries from the current date, having had residents filter into the world from various periods. The main residents had immigrated from Earth after some world-changing events, one of those being an alien invasion. An enigmatic Goddess figure has crafted the world to keep peace and order, ensuring it's overall safety. The world is low to medium magic, mostly of the folk variety or of the beings encountered (fae, gnomes, enchanted toys, etc). This game is not your standard, die in one session Cthulhu game. It does not use any of the mythos, gods, lore or setting from Lovecraft's works. Characters: The game's tone is placing members of a community looking into these strange things. They're regular residents from all walks of life, of all ages and backgrounds. They're not established monster hunters, scholars or investigators who specialize in these things. Per the standard Cthulhu fashion, a variety of pregens are provided. They're archetypes with a statted sheet, traits and artwork, some community-designed by my past players or friends of mine. Players can pick up and play with right away without issue. You can name and add background stories to them as you wish. Things you can expect: Very beginner friendly: Some of my best players have been beginners! Both tabletop newbies and non-Cthulhu players. Low to medium game stakes: The stakes are more localized and personal to the characters and their community. Narrative Game: A lot of these sessions are narrative driven, not hack n' slash. Think of them as those old point-and-click adventure games. A focus on roleplay is encouraged, but not a hard requirement. 2 hour play session: Sometimes we go over for boss fights, but I try to keep it at the 2-hour mark. Sandbox map: Pick your adventures, explore what you like! Discord Group: Player will have an easy to access Discord group for lore bits, planning and so on. Solo Adventures: Something catch your interest but nobody wants to go along to check it out? That can be arranged! Solo adventures allow more focused adventures, and usually run in the 3 hour time bracket. Things you don't have to worry about: Cthulhu Insanity and Death: Dangers and perils are still in this world for players to encounter, otherwise there's no risk. But this world is meant to be explored, and I'm not out to instantly murder characters or put them against impossible odds. Horrors or spooky things are there to be their spooky selves, but they're not incomprehensible horrors to send you to the asylum. Unless someone's being reckless or you're rolling poorly all the time, death and insanity isn't a high possibility. PG-13: Games are PG-13 for all audiences, and not icky or disgusting. Payment: This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $10 per session payable through PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Solo adventures are $15 due to increased time and effort to craft them. Payment is due before session starts; I will not run until payment is taken care of. Applying: Please drop a message with a Discord handle. I screen applicants with a voice call for a brief interview. Any additional game info can be found in the pinned threads, such as pregens or game rules, which can be found here. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/401249/ellowwood-high-strangeness-society
