In Shadowdark RPG one hour countdowns are a huge part of the game. Specifically for torches and light spells. I'm looking for something that would make a visible countdown available for all players to see.
As far as where players can see it, probably in the Turn Tracker would be easiest. Or possibly in a macro that can be added to the macro bar (but that can be a bit annoying if you're moving macros). Another option is in the name of a token on the tabletop. For the interface, do you ever need to pause it? Do you need more than one? Can players start/stop them?
Yes, we would need to be able to start and stop it. When there is a break for instance, torch timers stop. The game uses a real world hour as a tension maker, and to show the torch slowly burning down. So having an active visual reminder is key.
100% +1 to this idea. Shadowdark uses the concept of a light source lasting 1 hour of real time (can be modified by ingame actions) so i'm looking for this option also. I've tried Hourglass but it only seems to be able to run 1 timer at a time. What is needed is: - A timer that can be attached to a torch (or PC) token (so you could have multiple timers running for light sources started at different times) - It ticks down from 1 hour realtime (or another settble time, but 1 hour is standard) - It it can be paused or stopped, but also manually run down (e.g. the players stop for 10 mins, so you want to run the torches down artifically by 10 minutes etc.) - It needs the option to be made visible to the players (who can see the torch burning down) or hidden from them (if the GM decides to) Since I'm asking for the moon on a stick, allowing this to be linked to a PC token, and maybe even automate a 'flame' Token Marker turning on/off depending on the torch/lightsource being alight, would be amazing. Ideally this runs in the base game and also in Jumpgate (Jumpgate is preferred to allow for the timer to be dragged off the map into the surrounding area to aid tracking).
Any help with this would be amazing. Shadowdark is very popular right now. In addition, it seems Roll20 should really have a timer functionality already. Specifically, a countdown. There are plenty of games that would benefit from a visual timer.
Here is a Suggestions thread for this, please vote +1 with the little Up arrow, and also add your Comments to support this suggestion getting traction to the Roll20 Team: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1509275/timer
You could also create a token with multiple sides (0 to 10), and then place 5 of them on the desktop, name them like hour, min-tens, min-ones, sec-tens, sec-ones. A mod script would execute on a timer, and update the token side every 10 or 15 seconds.
I don't know if this still work, but I use to use it and it work. Only thing is if you are using dynamic lighting you need to keep it in an area where the players can see it. One thing, I don't think it will work with more than one token, but I haven't try it either. Check this past post https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/8689814/ The Mod is called Hourglass.
Suggestion: Maybe this API can be the base https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/11977726/loading-screen-api-removing-random-to-order-how You will just need to set the "text" to 60, 59, 58, 57, 56, 55.. etc and set the API to change to each text every 60 seconds (so 600ms?) to update the "clock".
