DMing a 3.5 Variant Game

Hello everyone, I'm planning to run a D&D 3.5-variant campaign over the next few weeks (until late July or early August). It uses D&D 3.6 rules, which are a amalgam of 3.5, Pathfinder, and other sources with the intent of balancing the classes for level 1 - 20 play. The campaign itself is going to be fairly fast: start at level 1, and we'll level pretty fast (1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 is the plan so far). Let me know if you're interested. Character Creation: - Level 1 - Ability Scores: choice of 36 point buy OR 4d6, drop the lowest (add them up, repeat 6 times, then assign these numbers to your stats as you wish) - Feel free to use any material in the System Reference Document (<a href="http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:System_Reference_Document" rel="nofollow">http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:System_Reference_Document</a>), and in the 3.6 rules (<a href="https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4KIyPrYV3LoSzdzNGVwaWJRSXM" rel="nofollow">https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4KIyPrYV3LoSzdzNGVwaWJRSXM</a>). - Send me a message if you want to use anything additional or have questions First Meeting: - Monday, July 2nd from 6 pm to 9 pm PST OR Sunday, July 7th from 9 am to 12 pm PST Players (7 / 6) - Bradley: Drow Wizard - Pavel: Human Rogue - Taedriel: Halfling Monk - Tony: Foxfolk Paladin - Darkhippo: Orc Fighter - John: undecided - Ian: undecided Thank you, Lord of 13
I've played some pathfinder 3.5 but that's it, not very experienced. I can play though. I'll post a character sheet if you don't mind a newer player.
Newer players are certainly welcome. Send me a message when you've decided what race/class you're going to play.
Haha I meant to get my sheet to you tonight but I ran into some issues with the character sheets I was using. I'll try to get it to you by tomorrow afternoon.
I'm also sort of new, only instead of having played once or twice, I just read DM of the Rings and watched Gamers that one time, none of which have anything to do with pathfinder. Still, since you say new players are welcome I'm totally interested.
Ill say i am in. im gunna recycle a toon from my last game. Halfling/Monk Lawful neutral
Got room for a Foxfolk Paladin?
My Drow Wizard is just about ready to be posted. I'll link the sheets when I get back to my home computer tonight.
I would like to try out this variant. I have a few years of experience with 3.5 and some dabbling with PF. I haven't played a game on Roll20 but have heard great things. I would play some form of Fighter if you have the space.
Sure thing; all of you are welcome. Pavel, I recommend reading both of the links in the first post, especially the SRD stuff. Let me know when you have chosen a race and class. Taedrial, monks are rather different in 3.6, but it's almost all additive. Make sure to compare skill lists and add the new abilities to your character sheet. Tony, I'm not familiar with Foxfolk. It's most likely ok, but I would prefer if you sent me the racial stats/benefits of it first. Bradley, glad to hear that. We still have space for one more person!
I'd like to join, i've got no experience, but this seems like a good game to start with. Providing you still have room, what do i need to sign up & where would I get it?
I'd love to join if you have room, i've played 3.5 quite a bit and have read up on pathfinder fairly well. Skimmed through your modification, it seems to have blended some PF and d&d for some slightly higher fantasy(love the unlimited 0-lvl spells). Also your times work extremely well for me ^^.
I think I'm gonna go with a Human Rogue. It seems like the path on which I am least likely to screw up. Also, am I supposed to use 3.5 character sheets or pathfinder character sheets?
John, Ian: I would love to have both of you join, but I'll need more time to prep if I have 7 players. Pavel: Either works, really. The skills list differs (from 3.5 to 3.6 and from Pathfinder to 3.6), however, so be careful of that. Pathfinder is probably closest. Everyone: I think I'll need more prep time for this. We could have a meeting on Monday from 6 - 9 PST or just start at level 3 next Saturday (July 7th) from 9 am to 12 pm PST.
I'm available for all of those times probably. Also I finished prepping my lvl 1 orc fighter
I will likely be out of town tomorrow and Monday. But any other day will work for me.
monday is a no go for me. out of town. but that sat should work perfectly. ill read up on monks in 3.6. which i never heard of lol.
crap.. 3.6 totally screws my monk build. sigh. let me re-class. get back to you on it
i pick psion/elan. with modifiers i got 17 18 13 18 9 11 when rolling 4d6 drop lowest x 6. now from playing a few dnd games i can plainly see that my score is op. if you think it unacceptable, work with me and you can increase diff of game, lower some points ect... *shrug* up to you. or my choice. play as is :)
Saturday works for me, I think i'll go with a Lizardfolk Ranger.
We may have to play with less than all 8 with scheduling conflicts
I would love to join this, but... all my plans have been for a Gunslinger, which doesn't appear to be a valid choice! If you'll still accept more players, put me down for a Barbarian (uncertain race, probably Human) while I study the SRD. Time-wise, it's easier for me to meet 6-9pm slots rather than 9am-12pm slots (the latter is 1am-4am local time for me), but I'm day-agnostic. Edit: Belay that, it would probably all get too complicated time-wise and I think I've got another game to join.
I don't think I'll manage this Saturday, and seeing as you seem to have more than enough players, I think I'll just leave the group and look for another.
One of my other games switched to Sunday morning and i'm going to have to withdraw and let someone else have my spot thank you very much for the chance though.
So are we who remain playing tonight?
I WANNA PLAY T_T
my bad
so... guess not tonight
Its Saturday the 7th
If your still interested in players I can be ready in 30 minutes.
Yes, it will be on Saturday from 9 am to 12 noon PST this Saturday. I'm just busy with work and real life and such, but I will have an adventure ready to go - I promise. :P If you could send me character sheets (I'm lordof13 [at] gmail.com) then that would make my job easier. Ravinder, you are welcome to join. We are meeting on Saturday (every Saturday for this month, more or less) if you can make it. Players (6 (?) / 6) - Bradley: Drow Wizard - Taedriel: Elan Psion (drop one 18 by 3 points to a 15 and you're good with the scores :P; or just accept that your character has better stats and might have more expected of them) - Tony: Foxfolk Paladin - Darkhippo: Orc Fighter - John: undecided - Ravinder (?): undecided
whats our starting gold and allowed starting eq?
Starting gold is 100 (for all classes). Not sure what EQ is. :P
I would like to join. WOnt be able to make it this sat, next sat, if thats alright...
i think he means equipment, but with 100 gold that is limitation enough.
Damn, too late for this one I suppose.
are we starting in 10 min? or so
First session was fun but we could have used a few more people. as of last game we had Taedrial/psion and Darkhippo/fighter. could use a healer of sorts and another tank. :) if you think game might be full come anyway. someone usually doesnt show up :)
Bump for tomorrow morning game session
sweet. lets hope more than 2 show up. :) im not certain but we may have some room for a few more.
I'm going to miss this Saturday's session do to being out of town all weekend. Sorry guys
