Encounter Helper "To use Encounter Helper, you must create a token on this page named Encounter Helper to store encounter information" error?

@KurtJ I've been trying to use encounter help - which when it does work, is excellent - but I keep getting this error when trying to create encounters: 1. New map, add tokens for monsters (using %%numbered%% tokens) 2. Add token "Encounter Helper" to map. 3. In chat box, type !eh pagelist to get list of existing encounters - the list comes up 4. Select the monster tokens I have created. 5. In chat box, type !eh create Jewel 6. Message: (From EncounterHelper): To use Encounter Helper, you must create a token on this page named Encounter Token to store encounter information. & then (From EncounterHelper): Created encounter Jewel with 0 tokens. Questions: 1. Do I need to create a NEW Encounter Token for each map? OR can I reuse the same token for all maps? 2. Does it matter which layer the tokens (including Encounter Token) are? I have them all on the Token Layer. 3. Help?

I have used a token (not so cleverly titled 'Encounters') which I have attached to a blank character sheet named 'Encounter Token'. I can then just add that 'character' to each page as needed and it is already set up to add encounters. The token saves the information for each of the encounters. So while you can move it from one page to another, it will throw errors which will crash the mod sandbox. By attaching it to a character sheet, however, you don't need to do the set up each time you bring a blank token onto the map. The token must have the name 'Encounter Token' in order to work properly. Another thing I do to manage the length of the encounter pagelist is to open the encounter token on a page I have set up and used or will not use for a while and edit the name to remove the 'n' off the end. This will preserve all the encounters set up, but will not show the page in the listing.  When and if I need the page again, I can go in and add the 'n' to the name and the page will show up on the pagelist and the encounters will be enabled. I have only had the encounter token on the GM layer or token layer.  The mod will pick them up on either of those. I am not sure if it will register to the mod on any other layer.
To use Encounter Helper you need to put a token named Encounter Token on the map that currently has the player ribbon. The Encounter Token does not need to have a character sheet attached to it. After Creating an Encounter or two you can take a look at the GM notes on the token and see what has been recorded for the encounters. You might notice that the tokens involved in the encounter are saved as their Token ID's making each unique to the current page. Hope his info helps.
Just to add to the information I gave above:  Yes the Encounter Token works even on the map level.  The other thing I use the mod for is to change part of the map.  I will set a dynamic element on the map and then use encounter token to move it to the GM layer.  When the element gets triggered, I use the encounter token to move it back to the map layer.
OK, so I have been using a blank character sheet. The default avatar (hooded figure) is what I've been using as the Encounter Helper, and it has worked in the past. For some reason it has not been working now. Let me describe what I've been doing: Tried dragging existing blank character with default token named "Encounter Token" onto battle map into GM layer. Selected monster tokens. In chat dialog box entered command "!eh create 01 Jewel Ambush" Error message of: " (From EncounterHelper): To use Encounter Helper, you must create a token on this page named Encounter Token to store encounter information." pops up, with: " (From EncounterHelper): Created encounter 01 Jewel Ambush with 0 tokens." Repeat 1 to 3 multiple times, with same effect. Tried adding a new token to the existing blank character with default token named "Encounter Token" and repeated steps 1 to 3, with same effect. Finally deleted existing blank character with default token named "Encounter Token", and started step-by-step following the instructions on the Script:EncounterHelp page. Started fresh. Moved Player ribbon to active battle map. Dragged a new image onto the battle map & named the token "Encounter Helper". Selected the monster tokens on the page and entered "!eh create 01 Jewel Ambush" Message of: " (From EncounterHelper): Created encounter 01 Jewel Ambush with 5 tokens." ! So the major changes here were: Drag the player ribbon to the active battle map. Created new token. One question I have is that the comments repeatedly state "Do not delete the text from the GM Notes" But I never see anything there, so am I doing something wrong?
Sean T. One question I have is that the comments repeatedly state "Do not delete the text from the GM Notes" But I never see anything there, so am I doing something wrong? Ignore the character sheet. While on the page that the character/party ribbon is on, are you looking at the GM Notes on the Encounter Helper token? If so and there is nothing there, it feels to me like something has been corrupted.
Sean, It sounds like you are missing a step.  After placing your encounter token on a map, you will need to type in !eh pagelist and select the current page where you want to set up the encounters.
