Rise of The Freehold (Changeling The Lost)

This will be a text only game. The plot is in Feudal Japan changelings have been growing more and more steadier in population but as any changeling knows they can't live long by only relying on mortals. Thus they are forced to create their own society. This leads to the creation of The Directional Courts. Time wise not picky I think nights be best and I'm EST time zone.
I'd certainly be interested in joining!
For most part the campaign will focus on a motley group of changelings building the first Freehold in Asia. Perhaps human prejudice or after several rekidnappings by True Fey the rest decide to figure out ways to combat their enemies.
Friend of Calvin's, mildly interested in joining. So when you say "Feudal Japan", you mean the game will be set sometime before the Meiji Restoration? Are there any significant changes to the setting that we should be aware of when planning out characters?
Um.. Feudal as in medieval times Japan.. I was going with Mulan era. What you should be aware of when making chars is there are no electronics. Occult is so common due to the time must people would know bad mojo signs when they see one. Guns I'm iffy about maybe flintlocks as gunpowder is certainly around due to fireworks. Changelings are strictly within times though one or two could be Clockwork or made of metal.

Well, Hua Mulan supposedly lived in China during the Tang Dynasty of China in around 620 CE so that puts it roughly equivalent to Asuka period . That predates firearms by about 500 years (12th century CE was when they were first introduced), and widespread usage by about 900 (1500s CE) after which it was abandoned until 1854 during the Meiji Restoration. Notably, this is about 500 years before the existence of the Samurai as a ruling class, ie before what is traditionally referred to as Feudal (or Medieval) Japan. You can roughly divide Japanese history into Ancient (Jomon), Classical (the Emperor and his court), Medieval (The rise of the Shogun and the military Samurai class, including the infamous Sengoku period which also marked initial European contact), the Edo period (Centralized control by the Shogun, what most people think of when they think of old Japan) and the Imperial Period (the rise of industrialization and bureaucratic control of the country under the Emperor, who seized power back from the Shogun during the Meiji Restoration.) I'd recommend... The Muromachi period , which is the setting of Princess Mononoke. The Edo Period , when a lot of popular Samurai dramas were set. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asuka_period http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muromachi_period http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Japan#Edo_...
Having read most of that... I'm going to say the setting is Asuka Period I don't mind firearms not existing. I'd prefer the setting to be roughly a time of extreme supernatural believe fear and mysticism. The plot idea I have in mind involves the changelings trying to ignore their powers(well most of them as South are Changeling only and see humanity as only a means to not turn into a Gentry) and fit in society but monks and Taoist charms reveal their true nature which leads to all kinds of mayhem.
So basically we're going to be the seed legends for Yokai, as it were. That sounds interesting. Can you tell me a bit about your vision for the place we're going to be?
I would be interested in this as well.
Hi I am new and I am looking for a group!!
https://app.roll20.net/join/535326/hwWB0A I imagine the place is countryside and a fair sized castle town where the province's ruler lives. The changelings are all from various social standards and try to reclaim their lives to disasterous results.
I too would be interested if we can play weeknights I know enough about C:tl to build a character sheet but next to nothing about fuedal japan
I seen enough Kung Fu movies to get a rough idea of it lol
What day of the week were you guys thinking? I cannot play mondays and most wednesdays since i have class. I also dont know much about feudal japan, but i guess this gives me an excuse to read about it lol.
I'm not piocky when I get a job I will be.
~ Kung Fu movies are set in China.
Um....I hope you're not confusing Japanese culture with Chinese culture, Wolf. 'Cause they're completely different settings, even if we do share some sinilarities here and there.
Japanese culture is just ninjas and animu right? it'll be easy /s
A few movies I seen were set in Japan.
