Token Sizes

Hey All, this might seem like a stupid, entry-level issue, but I can't find out how to make token sized uniform. By that I mean when you drag a token from the compendium onto a gridded map, how to you change how many squares it occupies by default without having to resize it? A few of my players drag their tokens onto the map and they take up about a 4th of a square as medium creatures whereas only one of them takes up a 5-by-5 square as they're supposed to. Am I missing something? This would also help with trying to fit monsters to particular sizes with the same issue. Large creatures occupying a 10-by-10, huge 15-by-15, etc.

With the issue of players having resized tokens, I bet I know what the issue is. You probably have the Cell Width on your maps set to 0.5. Or at least, you set it to that on the map where you assigned their default tokens. To fix this, create a map and make the cell width 1 in the map settings. Assign their default tokens again, and they will fill the square when you drag them out onto the map. I don't believe there is a simple fix for larger creatures.

Tokens are sized to adapt to the difference of the cell width of the page they were set on and the cell width of the page they are dragged to. For this to work as expected, set up any default token on a page with a cell width of 1, or 1 unit. If you set the token to take up four squares, it will take up four squares on any page that has a different cell width. There really should be a built-in warning when a user tries to set a default token on a page with a non-1 cell width.

I wouldn't change the Cell Width of a page. It is set that way for a reason. (Different reasons on different maps) Instead, go onto a different page with the standard cell width. Put the tokens there and make them the size that you want.  From that day onward --- just COPY the tokens from that page, and PASTE them onto the page you're playing.  Copy-pasted tokens will retain their size.

Tokens set up on a cell width 1 page and saved as default tokens from there, will also drag in correctly from the journal tab to other-scaled pages. You don't have to copy paste.

Just to elaborate and point out Keith's point with a visual, once you have your token as you want it by default (on a cell width of 1 page), and if you want to add any attributes (I have HP and AC set up in the example), then click update defaults.  Moving forward you should be able to drag it out and it should be the way you set it. Also, once it is set up, if you drag it to a map with a different grid size it will auto adjust to be the right size (so it will always take up one grid space no matter the size)
