Current state of the find group page

So I've returned after a long time away from the site; and thought I'd like to try to find a game, to my great dismay there currently aren't any free D&D5e games with more than 1 player, filtered only by English as the language. This tells me that your site is no longer a place for people to game unless they are willing to pay for the privilege, and it seems like 'what's the point.' I miss the days when people actually cared more about having a good time than making money off their fellow gamers. Just the feedback of a user from 2013

Just did a search with the following: 5E Free to play Show Mature Games Weekly English I have 5 pages of results, so unsure why you aren't seeing anything.  May want to recheck your search settings. Edit - Not sure this is the right section, as this is more of a comment or statement, then a suggestion/idea for change

There's a bit of an illusion there, Nick.  Although it is hard to find an open spot in a new game, with people you don't already know (at a time that fits... in a game system that you want..)... yeah I agree the LFG is challenging and it can take weeks of searching to find a Group to join that works for you.  But that doesn't mean this site isn't used for gaming. Thousands of games are happening on here every day and right now as we speak. Most of them don't have an open-seat posted for offer in LFG.  So to me there's a big difference between availability to find a group of people who are prepared to let you join their game on-a-whim, versus ability to use Roll20 for gaming.
Neither of you must have actually read my post as I said there aren't any posted games but that there aren't any free games with more than current player listed. Also I never said there weren't any games running I merely stating that the tools to find people to play with on this site are inherently underutilized.

I may have misunderstood you. I read it twice.  Happy hunting for your game group!
Thankfully, there is a solution to this problem.  Start your own D&D 5e group as the DM and recruit some players. -Adam

Hi Nick the Gamer,  Lets try to keep things civil please? Folks don't need abuse from you.  With that said, what do you mean by "single player group"?  I think perhaps the problem here is that your search criteria are not clear.  What are the exact settings you are using?  Based on your original post you are appearing to use:  D&D 5e English Free to Play (?) Are there any other search criteria? Because based on those three points, I found 4 pages of D&D 5e listings.  If I expanded it to include Mature Content I found 8 pages of D&D 5e listings.  At one point you said that these games don't have "more than 1 player". That is to be expected. Why would they have more than the DM? I would expect most groups to go from "1 player" (ie: the DM), to no longer listed because they are full, with nothing in-between. It is how my groups fill up when I post. I have my pool of people to choose from, I select the folks, send them the invites, and then the group is full and the listing is auto-closed.  Edit: In fact, this is the recommended method to prevent people from simply joining your game and filling spots without participating, forcing DMs to kick them and re-enabling the listing (which can take an hour to re-appear).
I was neither abusive or uncivil, I was merely stating the incredulity of feeling like I was speaking a foreign language perhaps you should look up abuse and civility before you go insisting that I wasn't being civilized I was not being barbaric I was not threatening I was being incredulous which is a civilized way of responding to what I felt was an attack on my sanity. As for your notion of how grouping is done, It didn't used to be done that way, you'd accept people as they individually passed the application process. so that would indeed explain why I don't find any games with more than 1 player. Thank you for explaining the way it is mow being used.
I have been DMing on Roll20 since 2018. When I bring on new players it goes like this: First someone drops out or is booted from the game. My 'Looking for group' listing is automatically activated. After a day or so the responses start coming in. (folks applying for the slot/slots). Pre-screen. I read the applications and any that sound like I would like to add to the game I send a private boilerplate introduction which also asks for a response. Starting with the first response I send a game invite until the slot/slots are full and the 'Looking for group' listing is disabled. If a new player doesn't workout I kick them from the game. I get two types of player this way, some don't care for the campaign and drop out after 1 or two sessions some others stay for years or until real life gets in the way. This process works for me and our group.
