Hello adventurers! My name is Shane and I began DMing in 2022. Since then I have hosted two major campaigns, across hundreds of sessions. The last of these campaigns will wrap up in just a few sessions and I love DMing, so I wanted to kick off the next campaign as soon as possible. As I review the previous games, I wanted to take the parts I enjoyed the most and focus those elements into a fresh campaign with a fresh party. We have two players already and I'm open to running for up to 6 members. Banished is going to be a classic campaign of high adventure. It features a large campaign map that emphasizes exploration and the rules associated, making the journey potentially just as important and eventful as the destination. The party will need to work together to survive in a harsh landscape, to communicate effectively and take charge of their own destiny. There will be a central story, with large events, but the goal is to offer a more open and player-centric experience than what I've run previously. Currently, the campaign is projected to run up to about level 10-12. The sessions will be every other week for now (I'm open to increasing the cadence depending on the party) and each session will run for 3.5-4 hours on average, longer if there's a major combat or if all want to keep going. If the party would like to keep going and we're having a great time, the campaign has been structured to enable high level play. On November the 6th at 6pm EST I would like to kick off our session zero together as a party. So, if you are interested in joining, please let me know soon! If you are interested I have a few quick FAQs below about the campaign. Please send me a message on Discord if you are interested in joining, I'm SnipeyMcGee#0374 or message me directly via Roll20. Q) What's the process to join this campaign? A) For starters- thank you so much for your interest. I'm excited to kick off this campaign and I hope that it's a great time for all involved. To join, please message me on Discord ( SnipeyMcGee#0374 ) and I'd like to have a video conversation with you. I want to know about what you liked in other campaigns, what you didn't like and what you're hoping for in a campaign like this one. I'd like to ensure that everyone works well together, that nobody is a jerk to one another and that you're a good fit for the table/we're a good fit for what you want out of D&D. Please ensure that scheduling will not be an issue before reaching out, the schedule is covered in our next question... Q) What will the scheduling expectations be? A) Every other Wednesday at 6pm EST sharp is when the game starts. I am a very timely and organized person. One of the things that I've learned while running D&D is that scheduling issues seriously impact my enjoyment of D&D. I think it's that way for a lot of folks. The game time is the game time, if that sounds great to you then read on. Please no late players and never no call/no shows. I just want to be very clear that when running this campaign I'd like to see very few missed games. If you miss games, join late or need to leave early on game nights then this campaign will not work out. If you're like me and want to regularly play D&D, then I think you'll get a lot out of this game. If you're not able to be on-time, this isn't the table for you-- no hard feelings, scheduling is often not easy and I'd rather be upfront and clear about it than have it be a problem later. Thank you for your interest! Q) How will leveling work? A) XP based leveling with the ability for the party to earn additional XP for quests, clever diplomacy and sharp roleplaying. Q) What are the roleplaying expectations for this campaign? A) The expectation is that this is a roleplay heavy campaign. I don't mean acting necessarily, yet I would like for all players to be involved. To think like your characters and to help me create an atmosphere that's comfortable for everyone to roleplay in. As a DM I act out the NPCs, voices and all. That's not an expectation for you as a player (I'd love to see it, of course!) but I would ask that you be involved, to have a character that's interesting and that you're open to that kind of experience. If you're not comfortable roleplaying, or being an active member of the team then you will have a better time at another table. Q) What's the campaign tone? A) It's a classic adventure campaign that would be in line with something like Baldur's Gate 2. There will be a story threaded into the background but the campaign is largely an open, exploratory adventure with huge dungeons and challenging combat scenarios. In cities you will find lots of characters to interact with - allies and enemies both. My goal is for this to be a highly reactive world that also offers an interesting story to propel you forward. I will make almost all dice rolls in the open (enemy perception, random events etc I will roll privately) so in terms of difficulty it will likely be a fairly difficult campaign. Actions have consequences... If you decide to go swimming with an Aboleth then whatever happens, happens. Q) What sort of content (violence, etc)? A) The campaign will certainly be violent. To be clear this is not an "evil" campaign (your choices are your own, of course), I'm not particularly interested in running a game that goes too far down that path. The campaign is not grimdark. It is designed to be serious, to have high stakes and to spur you towards adventure. I hope that everyone involved can take it seriously, while also knowing when to have fun. Content may be adult at times, though for many scenes it would likely be like a 'fade to black' sort of situation so that the options are there for you on the table but it may not be fully narrated. Feel free to play your character but please don't be creepy! If you could see it happening in an M rated game or most R rated movies then it can happen in this campaign. I want players to be comfortable, yet I also want the game to have teeth and if you really want to start a brutal sword fight in a tavern, handle a rude lordling by slitting his throat or visit a brothel know that all of that is in play and fair game. Q) I have a question that's not answered here. A) Please message me on Discord directly at SnipeyMcGee#0374 or post a response here, I'll answer what I can. Thank you very much for your interest in this campaign! ~ Shane
