There is still time to claim that LAST AVAILABLE SEAT for Late Friday's group! Here- have some teaser NPC fiction just to better get a vibe on where the campaign is starting! ==================== Setting- Therastad. Location- unspecified. Date- early spring. --- "And you are certain?" "I know what I saw. My eyes may not be as geriatrically attuned as yours, but I have been reading souls since I was barely out of rags and weaned off teats. I am absolutely certain." "And I have been attending the will of the Gods for longer than you can say the same of your own great grandmother. Mind your tongue, Matron. This is a house of respect after all." "The both of you, please! We have other pressing matters beyond this." "What could possibly be more pressing than the return of..." "The eminent death of the King. The fact we have still not determined what is happening with the missing hopefuls in Caerwal. We are facing eminent national catastrophe if we cannot produce a tournament at the proper hour!..." "Always so hyperbolic. The people will rally. There will always be more hopefuls, and the mourning procedures will buy ample time to save public face, if that is what you fear, Deacon." "I fear riots! The people grow restless. Rumors of the missing already have the populace on edge... if we lose the crown now..." "All the more reason to heed my vision..." "From a God that barely knows if she is coming or going...pfft.." "ENOUGH. The hour is late and once more we have successfully done nothing but bicker. Both...BOTH issues deserve attention and hold merit. But I am inclined, with great reluctance, to side with the Bishop. We have a growing plague of missing people, including too many hopefuls to ignore. And the king, saints comfort him, is on his sunset season. The last word from the royal physician is our blessings are having little impact now, beyond granting some spiritual comfort. So." "Yes. A somber truth. One worth a moment of peace amongst us- that we can provide the people the united front they rely upon from us, perhaps?" "It is late. I hate to table this once more, but a long rest may bring clarity, if we can all reflect upon this last before we resume this discussion in the morning. We DO set the tone for the people, after all." "We do. As you all wish then, with one last protest and warning. My Shepherdess is not one for folly or frivolty. She would not give me such visions if they were not essential to the current tides..." "But what are the tides to the Gods? Were you longer li..." "IT IS AGREED, we close here for tonight. Tomorrow we focus on the tide at hand, a UNIFIED front, and a statement to prepare the people for the unfortunate inevitable." "By Primeu's great horn let it be so. Uhg." "Fine." "As it is said." "Good evening then, all." --- Doors close. A drawer opens. A quill begins to scratch across parchment. --- "Attention.... new information.... imperative.... cannot hold. The timing..... you know what to do. Be swift .....and when you get the signal...... then... BURN IT ALL." --- A quill taps an ink vial. Parchment folds, Another drawer opens and closes. A magical chime feintly sounds, and the paper is gone. ====================
