Designed to introduce new players to the game, but provide a satisfying narrative and choices for experienced players. Genre : Medieval Fantasy - non-magical Playstyle : A blend of combat, dialogue, exploration, and mystery. Heavy emphasis on combat. Content Warning : Violence, kidnapping, Blood, potential gore Rating : PG Character Information Point Value : 60 Points Attributes & 'Combat Skills' : 60 Points Adventuring Skills : 60 Points Common skills : Mobility, Social. All skills will be relevant, as this is a new player adventure. Relevant Specializations: Sailing, Navigation, Social > Gather Information, Climb, Break Down Doors Power level in setting : Your characters are professional adventurers. Enough to be hired for exceptional missions, and a cut above common soldiers or mercenaries. You have unique skills suited to adventuring, and have some level of notoriety or expertise. While not heroes or legends, you are highly valued. The rest of the world is generally lower powered. This is a grittier fantasy setting, focused more on survival, war, hardship, and the brutality of reality. Ultimately, your character should be someone important in the setting. Related to nobility, an important guide, etc. They should have some status and reputation somewhere, and capacity for influence. The Setting Genre : Historical Medieval Fantasy Tone : A bit dark and gritty, a bit fun and pirate-y. A blend of high adventure and grounded fantasy. Inspiration : D&D Fantasy, Game of Thrones, Historical Pirates, Viking lore and fantasy While the players can play magic users if they wish, there is no magic users, potions, etc. in the adventure. In fact, it's a low-powered setting. Only humans are present in the game world, no fantasy playable races. Starting Location Play begins in the Village of Tiberwig. A small town on the edges of a chain of islands, far removed from mainland civilization. There is a war abroad in the rest of the world, and the small towns and settlements of the isles are largely left to fend for themselves to keep themselves and their economies alive. Scarcity and poverty abound. You, as a character, seek to undergo the rescue of a kidnapped nobleman named Richard Stormhold who runs the town. Your reasons are your own. Bandit raiders stole him away recently, and the town has no military left to spare that can stand up to the bandits. -------- About Me You can learn a little more about me as a GM here. (don't worry, it's a free game) https://startplaying.games/gm/duelsofdreamsgm If you miss this one-shot, I plan to run more one-shots soon!
