S096_Its_Raining_Trains             Recap January 1, 2019             At the offices of the Metahuman Right Advocacy Group the lady at the table does not know Polaris or Lora Dane. She tries to recruit them to join the protest of Keith Armbruster giving support against Governor Endicott.             Meanwhile in Albany violence breaks out between members of the MLM who were also protesting Keith Armbruster giving help to Governor Endicott. It is iimportant not to confuse the MLM and the MRA with each other. MLM are terrorist, the MRA are the good guys.               Revenant prepares for his appearance in front of the Grand Jury concerning Kyoji Tsurimatsu  (Deathblade).   Thursday January 3, 2019             While the rest of the East coast (as far South as Virginia) is suffering from temperatures that average 28 degrees (F) below zero a 2 mile diameter zone (roughly centered around the Empire State building) is very warm. In fact is a balmy 68 degrees (F). The edge of the zone is very well defined, crossing it and temperatures drop 80 degrees to match the rest of the country being hit by the Polar Vortex.             The people inside the area want to thank and praise whatever hero is shielding them from the bitter cold. In times past they would expect it to be the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, or maybe even the Justice League but so far there is no one taking credit for the warmth.                                                                                                                   Friday January 4, 2019             Impact takes a picture of Magnatron and starts passing it around looking for people who have seen him. Meanwhile Network reappears. He staggers through the Bunker’s doors unaware that he has been missing since December 9 th .             His last memory was entering cyberspace and seeing Charlie the data golem that has been following him for a long time. After that his mind is a blank until he woke up in a dumpster a few blocks from the base.             As a precaution the team takes Network to see Doctor McQuark.             The group gets the usual frosty reception from Lydia Davidson, MeQuark’s receptionist. Since it isn’t an emergency visit she had the group wait in the lounge with 5 year old magazines until someone could see them. That someone turned out to be Mick Kramer, her husband and McQuark’s right hand man.             Mick took them back to an examination room and was preparing to perform an MRI when Network said that would be a bad idea. He and magnets don’t get along well.             Mick then takes a series of blood samples to check Network out in other ways. As he turned to leave the room he asks if they wanted to see Doctor McQuark. Lately he has been acting a bit odd (even for him) but he is still a brilliant and insightful scientist even though he is also mad.             When McQuark comes in he says that he has some cell samples from Network before he vanished. He can suspend them in a serum and inject them into the current Network. If they match he is the real deal, if they don’t he will turn into a pile of goo and they can wash him down the drain.             Network agrees and it injected. He does not turn to goo and is exonerated. Of course the Doctor says it’s never been tested so trusting the results is still a matter of faith.             With Network’s identity confirmed (?) they ask him about the inoculation for the Glave Cleaner virus. He has been trying to reconstitute the virus from the blood samples of everyone he gave it to before his lab was set ablaze and he went over a guardrail when his car was sabotaged.             He really needs a fresh sample of the virus, his attempts to recreate it have not been entirely successful. He says that he has 20 cultures growing at the moment and he is hopeful. He also says that if the team that created the original Glave Cleaner was looking for a weapon of mass destruction they would love to get their hands on his failed attempts. Some of them have been very nasty. Big Tuna, Impact, and Network are not vaccinated against the Glove Cleaner.               14:00             They then head back to the Bunker. Network was about to connect to the internet but was interrupted.                 14:00             Before he is able to interface they hear the trouble-alert . Freight trains are raining on the governor’s mansion in Albany. Impact starts running and could be there in 4 minutes. Network tells him they can travel via cyberspace and get there quicker. Using a cell phone that was dropped by someone at the mansion during the attack the group reaches the battlefield in less than a minute. Magnatron is nearly 300 feet in the air. Impact tries to goad the villain into coming down and attacking him, ‘you’re good at hitting big target but I bet you can’t hit anything smaller.’ His reply was something like ‘I’d love to smash your pea brain but this pays better.’ Magnatron uswisely ignores Paladin flying up to him concentrating on dropping loaded trains on the mansion with the intent of ending the life of Governor Endicott. Revenant is only slightly behind Paladin as they rush the villain. Big Tuna hurls a manhole cover and Network throws bolts of electricity but neither one hits. Paladin pummels Magnatron then Revenant finishes him off. The group turns Magnatron over to PRIMUS. Network dismantles the trains, making them easier to remove. Ambulances and doctors tend to the wounded among the governor’s staff  and the five train crews. both in the ruins of the mansion and the crews on the five trains. Paladin will take an occasional photo for the Brigade’s PR page. After the carnage Silver Avenger Richardson will approach Paladin. He suggest that the Brooklyn Brigade join a government service because there are bad things coming. He (the SA) does not like Paladin nor his team but he does respect them. The Silver Avenger gives the team until dawn tomorrow to decide. There are ugly things coming and the group should try to get on the right side before it is too late. Network pings phones (Mind Scan) and helps rescue people from the rubble. The governor’s staff and other first responders help with the rescue attempts. They help direct the team’s efforts to safely excavate the ruins to free the people trapped in the rubble.   The governor was whisked away while the heroes are savings lives. Impact points out that something Magnatron said concerned him. Magnatron said that he was being paid to come after the governor which means there is someone out there behind these attacks.   The group talks a bit about various conspiracy theories that involve the governor wondering among other things if he is orchestrating these attacks for political leverage. Network is going to look into the governor history, social pages, and the like to see of there is any dirt that can be used against him.   17:00 (5PM) Everything that can be done has been done. And the group heads back to the Bunker. Impact volunteers at the hospital where the injured from the Raining Trains were taken. He does this in his secret ID the EMT. Revenant goes home and works on tech. Amy comes over and they share a pizza and watch a movie. They watch Godzilla King of the Monsters, a fictionalized account that used the monster’s rampage a few years ago as a backdrop. Godzilla prevented greater loss of life as other denizens of Monster Island escaped containment. Network checks the security cameras that overlook the dumpster where he was found. He finds no footage of anyone dumping him. The dumpster was open so he see anything opening the lid. He checks for gaps in the time stamp for the recording but there aren’t any. Big Tuna, Impact, and Network have not been vaccinated against the Glove Cleaner.     Saturday January 5, 2019             The lawyers advise against taking PRIMUS’ offer but are willing to look over the agreement. Paladin has the Silver Avenger send over the Federal agreement.             In general the Brooklyn Brigade would gain is special deputy status. This would give them law enforcement powers, a government salary, medical insurance, life insurance, paid time off, flexible work scheduling, student loan repayment, (off-hours) travel allotment (and when available (off-hours) dead sticking, ride for free anywhere a federal plane is already heading), professional development, have legal representation, and a pension.             The group would also incur liabilities such as having to follow the law, require warrants to enter non-public areas during an investigation, surrender their ‘secret identities’, add their fingerprints to AFIS, and submit DNA to the federal DNA registry, forfeit the payments made for the royalties on their images, and be on-call 24/7 (except when on vacation or taking personal time).               The cold section and the hot sections are becoming more extreme. The cold is –20 to –30 degrees while the warm zone is getting hotter 80, 90, and 100 degrees.
