Far away from civilized lands, lay a small walled town by the name of Geltar. The vast majority of the rest of the world has been explored ad nauseam, but the continent upon which Geltar lay is unknown. Sure, there are old legends and stories. The outside world of the peaceful town of Geltar is relatively unknown. At a time and age previously, adventurers had gone out into the wilderness to map and to tame the lands beyond. Although many set forth, few returned, and they brought with them fabulous and fantastic things ranging from trophies from monster kills, gold and treasure horded by dragons, and other wondrous things. Where did these things come from? It is hard to say, but whispered rumors say that this land was once the domain of the Lichking, a terrible being of immense power. The Lichking, it is said, and his minions and allies, were defeated by adventurers in a bygone era, and sealed in a tomb with powerful magics, to lock him away so that his evil can never again see the light of day. There are a few maps in town, mostly very old and probably outdated, but may hold clues as to various locations where adventurers had tamed the wilds. Once again, adventurers have come to these lands, to the only spot of civilization in the Marches, Geltar, seeking fortune, glory, and honor. What will you find? How will you fare? Only time will tell. Welcome to the Savage Marches. This is a completely homebrew setting in what will amount to what can only be described as a massive sandbox campaign with tons of stuff to do, places to explore, and a rich substory running as an undercurrent/backdrop to everything, which will culminate in world-shaking events that only the heroes can prevent. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/417981/selsuria-the-savage-marches How to prepare -Voice chat will be done over Discord, and video chat will not be required. -You will need the following accounts/software: Discord, Roll20 (the free version is fine), dndbeyond (free version is fine; this is if you are using dndbeyond for your character), and the browser extension Beyond20 (if not having your character on Roll20 directly). -The vast majority of character creation should be done prior to our first session -A basic understanding of D&D 5e is helpful but not needed as beginners are welcome -We will be using the 2024 ruleset What I provide I will be bringing the following things to the table: -I have the full Roll20 Pro suite, especially for this adventure. -I will, after a player provides a picture, provide a token for your character if wanted (players are welcome to bring their own) -I bring 27+ years of DMing experience -I use voices as well as ambient music where appropriate. -Combat will be a challenge, as monsters/NPCs will be played intelligently, based on their own intelligence/adventure notes describe -The Rule of Cool is DEFINITELY in play; "You can certainly try" is one of my favorite phrases, and if it will be awesome to pull off, I'll let you give it a shot -My References: https://startplaying.games/gm/thedailydm Gameplay details Although we already did Session 0 and have played a little, character creation will not be difficult. How will character creation work Character creation will be as follows: -Creation (or the vast majority thereof) was done at Session 0; I will be on early to answer any questions or provide any guidance/feedback and so you can roll your stats ---Character creation is preferred to be on dndbeyond.com as I prefer to use the browser extension Beyond20 be used so that rolls with modifiers and such are transferred from dndbeyond to Roll20. ---Making your character in Roll20 will also be acceptable, but I need to know in advance so that I can get things set up for you. -Stats will be rolled (4d6 drop the lowest; do that twice so you have two sets, pick which set you want) at session 0 on Roll20. -Standard Gear -No evil characters -Starting level 1 Hope to see you at the table! This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $10/session to be paid via startplaying.games.
