I'm a newer DM that is taking a break from running a long game and am going to run the White Plume Mountain adventure from the Tales of the Yawning Portal book, but need some more players. So far there are only two players: a shadow monk and a bladsinging wizard, and I'm looking for two more players. We are running the adventure using the 2014 rules, but I have allowed some small bits of 2024 material to be used. While experience isn't too much of an issue, the players and I would prefer to get someone that has played at least some 5E before. Knowing how roll20 works for the character sheet/tokens/etc. isn't too difficult to teach someone and any of us could do it, learning how to play a game system just for a short adventure might be a bit much. There are some things that I have changed for mechanics (adding in some 2024 class rulings included) but overall not too much. Any official book for 5E is allowed. Every race (species) is fine to play as, and will be able to choose their ability bonuses (+2 any, +1 any, or +1 to any three stats). Characters will have an array of stats: 17 , 16 , 15 , 12 , 10 , 8. Created characters will start at level 8. We play every 2 weeks on Friday nights at 6pm pst and our next session will be March 7th, 2025. I'm hoping to find the players before that time and am willing to work with people to get a character started and made perhaps a week or so before we start.
