When Copying games all characters out of folder

At first i thought it was only when copying over to jumpgate but it seems any game does this lately :/ seems to be any character sheets from up to a few months back that were made. Older sheets don't seem to be out of their folders weirdly.
I also noticed that it's only sheets added by other players. :/ So huh.
and A fair number of them are transfered over blank. :/
I'm just getting more upset going forward and finding more. what's the point of copying a game if everything ends up blank or messed up? Please roll20 test your stuff more before pushing updates man... It wastes so so many hours of my time each and every time.. :'(

Hi Mr. NumNums,  It seems like you are trying to contact Roll20, the best route to doing that is via the Help Center as the Bug Report forum is primarily for community help.

Slightly longer answer: Back when Roll20 was tiny, this forum was easier for them to manage. But it was still imperfect, as a forum does not generate tickets, people cross-post issues, posts are easily overlooked, issues get lost of there is no immediate resolution, and so on. At its current user base size, the forum just plain doesn't work as a way of reporting and resolving individual issues. Years ago, the team pivoted to a ticket-based method, managed by  Help Center Requests . The XP team manages the help queue and handles many, many tickets in the course of a day. The team does curate a number of threads for projects undergoing intense development, but these are usually easily identified since they name the project and are started by a team member. As for the forum name, for whatever reason, it has not changed (though this has not been corrected). It exists mainly for community-level help. Some Forum Champions, and a generous group of community-minded individuals help folks here on a daily basis.

So would you suggest a rename for this subforum like, "Ask for Help on Bugs and Technical Issues" ? keithcurtis said: As for the forum name, for whatever reason, it has not changed (though this has not been corrected). I usually check here first to see if anyone has a similar issue and if they had a work around etc.
So to summarize. To avoid this issue in the meantime prob use API for players adding sheets. (or just add them yourself) the sheet button provided by roll20 seems to have all kinds of problems attached to it sadly, Copying games being one of them.

I have not had any problems with players using the in-game create character button. I do not typically use the Roll20Characters feature. As for the characters losing their folders bug, that's actually a failsafe. If there is a communications problem copying all that data, the organizational routine can be dropped in oder to preserve the character copy. Its not ideal, but it beats losing your characters. I would strongly suggest filing a  Help Center Request  when this happens. Depending on the cause, they might be able to assist you with a rollback or other technical solution. Copying games does not typically lead to folder loss. You'd hear about it all over the place if that were the rule rather than the rare exception.

I'd probably name it something "Community Help" and put the  Help Center Request  link into the read me first sticky . But like I've said, for whatever reason, they have not changed it despite a number of requests. The forum software is very old, and it might even be possible that a name change of a category would break something. I honestly have no idea.

I had to transmute abunch over to fix them. Which kinda made it a mute point to copy that game at that point tbh lol. Not to mention how long it took me to reorganize everything :'(

Was the team able to help you on this at all?
keithcurtis said: Was the team able to help you on this at all? Not yet. I assume it'll be one of many things they need to fix going forward. I just wanted to make sure they knew. I have a work around for now. Hopefully it doesn't effect too many others.
