Noob looking to learn

As the topic would suggest. I'm one off them not so mysterious noobs. And in short, I am looking for a group who are willing to show me the ropes. So to speak. So anyway, a little bit about myself is in order. First my timezone is CET, and since I am unemployed at the moment my time table is pretty clear. My biggest worry is having enough advanced warning to make sure I don't end up with clashing appointments. Although, if the difference in timezones become too great, scheduling will be abit difficult.I have used teamspeak/ventrilo/mumble/skype in the past. And while I'm rusty on mumble and ventrilo, it shouldn't be a problem. As for previous experience, I might as well say none. Since I only played a single one session game of call off cthulu like 10-12 years ago. And I did buy the core ruleset book 1-3 for D&D back in 2000-2005 sometime(3rd or 3.5 edition, don't remember which). Although I've only part read the player handbook. I've also watched a few different systems in action in ItmeJP's rollplay series(Dark Heresy, Stars without number, Numenera, D&D). But again, I wouldn't even dare call that actual experience. Other things that I could mention is that I'm a fan of rpg's on the pc. Such as KOTOR Dragon Age, Mass Effect, The Witcher, Baldur's gate, Neverwinter Nights (the non MMO ones), Icewind Dale, Elder Scrolls(3-5) Fallout (3 and up) and Divinity Original Sin, I'm also a fan off Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica(the new one) and Warhammer 40K. I would prefer to try one off the more simple systems at first. But if the DM and/or group feel they can teach me the more advanced systems. Then I'm willing to try.
I think Iron Kingdoms RPG would be great for beginners like you. We'd only need d6s and the system is really easy to learn. I am currently working on a custom one-shot that would hopefully help in introducing the world as well as the system. It's basically a steampunk world where magic meets guns, anthropomorphic alligators and 12 ft. steam driven robots. It's got a cold war-ish vibe to it as the current timeline is during the fragile cease fire after a quick and loud annexation of one of the nations. At this time all sorts of opportunities pop up. Brigands roam the higland and roads while mercenaries make a mint off fighting skirmishes and battles for whoever needs them. It is ultimately a not so secret weapons race between all nations, to bring about the end of war, and a new age of peace.
Thanks for the reply Goatman, I sent you a message regarding it. ^^ I should also mention that I don't mind talking over private messages, email or skype. If any potential DM/group wish to get to know me a little better before inviting me to a game. Or for the purpose off information/discussion/clarification etc. As well as I would like to try different types off games. And while the settings that I am more familiar with would be easier for me to get into from a role playing perspective. I'm not opposed to getting my feet wet in a new or unfamiliar setting/universe. Lastly, I would also appreciate any beginner advice. So if you read this and feel like sharing some advice. Don't hesitate to send me a message.
Are you wanting to learn to run games or play games?
I'm running a GURPS game that you might like. In my opinion, GURPS is a pretty simple system. The game is based on the Primeval and Primeval: New World TV shows, which you can watch on Hulu. It's set in New Orleans. Here's my game's listing: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/17651/primeval-... I don't currently have any other players, but I just posted it in the LFG listings.

Hi, we are currently looking for someone to join us in our campaign that is played at least once a week (Mondays&we try to make Fridays as well) for about 5 hours each, evening Central Europe time. As one of my players said in the recruitment thread: If you take the crew from Firefly, put them in the living ship from Farscape, send them an unimaginable distance away from home like in Voyager and have them investigating new planets, species and technology like a Stargate team... you'd end up with something a little bit like the game we're playing. We are very focused on character interaction&development/arcs, so don't expect a lot of combat (usually). The campaign is completely open-world(well, universe) and sandbox-style so its direction is mostly determined by the player characters. Maybe check it out :)
Thanks for the replies. and I apologize for being slow to get back to you. Today's been abit hectic sadly. I'll look into the two games suggested once I get back from my workout. Shouldn't take much more than 2 hours. So I can make sure I have the time to read up on them and make a proper reply. And I'm looking to play games Firepart, Sorry for not making that clear enough.
Replies sent.
