Token Updating Broken

Trying to update tokens for my games and they are broken. No matter how many times I click update token it will not update. Cannot unlink a character sheet from a token. Can slightly make changes by pressing update token properties but this gives players edit privileges and keeps breaking control over the token by leaving it blank and not to the GM. Using the original system not the new gate system or the beta branch. EDIT: Was able to partially get around this by dragging out a token, working on it then clicking use this token so it is a partial work around atm.

Hi Vermillion! "Updating a token" has many meanings and there are many steps, often with assumptions about what is supposed to happen. If you can give a detailed, step by step description of what you are doing, what you expect to happen, and what actually happens, we might be able to help you figure out what's going on.

The main issue was trying to disassociate a token with a character sheet. So I would change it from being character sheet zombie to generic but it would not disassociate with the token. The reason I was doing this is because I was worried about the token and its clones having clone HP (This is when you do like 3 damage to a token and all those token take 3 damage) but my friend told me to disassociated the red circle from HP and that fixed the issue so it became moot in the end anyway. I found it easier to make token edits by dragging out the token, making changes then associating the token to that sheet in order to fix things generally but in my case I didn't need to since it was to fix a HP issue that only needed to be disassociated.
Removing any default token from a sheet is difficult. It's much easier to set the bars on the default token to None, which unlinks them.

Traneptora has it right that you only need to step the bar you've chosen for HP to None, and it sounds like that is what you are now doing. After that, there are several ways to update the token. My preference is to open the characters sheet, press the Edit button, and then delete the old token from the default token field, and then, with your altered  token selected, press "Use this Token. Every token you pull onto the VTT from that sheet should now produce a token with unlinked hit points. Again, if you want to give step by step repro instructions, we can try and figure out what went wrong. Or if you're happy with your current workflow, that's fine. By step by step, that means to tell me where the token came from to start with, what fields were changed, which things were opened, which buttons pressed, etc., all in order. so that someone can reproduce each step. Also include what you expected to happen and what actually happened. Generalized actions or observations ("it would not dissociate with the token") don't help us find issues with methodology.
