VEIL OF ENDINGS: A PLANAR SAGA CAMPAIGN INVITATION The City of Doors holds countless secrets, but the greatest mystery lies in what came before—and what awaits beyond the final threshold. THE SETTING Welcome to Sigil, the City of Doors —a ring-shaped metropolis perched atop an infinite spire at the center of the multiverse. Here, portals to every conceivable plane of existence dot the landscape, disguised as doorways, arches, or windows. The city teems with beings from across reality: devils negotiate with angels in smoke-filled taverns, mind flayers exchange secrets with genies in hidden libraries, and mortals from countless worlds try to carve out lives amid cosmic wonders and terrors. Sigil is ruled by the enigmatic Lady of Pain , a silent, floating entity whose serrated visage inspires terror even in gods. Those who displease her are found flayed by invisible blades, or lost forever in her maze-like pocket dimensions. She permits no worship, no challenges to her authority, and offers no explanation for her actions. Yet whispers are spreading through the darkest corners of the city. Shadow deaths plague the lower wards. Portals to the Shadowfell open without warning. The Dustmen and Doomguard speak of an approaching cosmic reckoning. And in dreams, many have glimpsed a raven-crowned queen watching from beyond the veil of death. THE CAMPAIGN Veil of Endings is a D&D 5E campaign that will take characters from humble beginnings in Sigil's dangerous streets to the heights of planar power, where they'll confront fundamental truths about mortality, cosmic balance, and the price of immortality. Key Campaign Elements: Full Campaign: This adventure will span from Level 1 to Level 20, offering a complete character journey Planar Adventure: Explore iconic locations across the D&D multiverse, including the Shadowfell, the Nine Hells, Celestial realms, and the mysterious ruins of Nerath Mortality Themes: Confront philosophical questions about the necessity of death, the burden of immortality, and what truly endures beyond life's end Cosmic Mystery: Unravel an ancient connection between the Lady of Pain and the Raven Queen that threatens the very foundations of reality Factional Intrigue: Navigate the politics of Sigil's seventeen philosophical factions while cosmic forces vie for your allegiance Player Agency: Make choices that fundamentally affect the campaign's direction, potentially reshaping the multiverse itself PLAYER EXPECTATIONS You are not required to have any prior experience with D&D. This campaign is ideal for players who enjoy: Rich role-playing and character development You like speaking "in character" even if you don't have a special accent. Philosophical and moral dilemmas without easy answers A mix of urban intrigue, dungeon exploration, and planar journeys Complex NPCs with their own motivations and perspectives Dark themes balanced with moments of wonder and discovery Long-term campaign commitment (estimated 40+ sessions) This campaign may not be for you if: You prefer strictly heroic campaigns with clear moral boundaries You're uncomfortable with themes of mortality and existential questions You want primarily dungeon-focused or combat-heavy play You prefer shorter adventures or frequent character switching CHARACTER CREATION Characters will begin as residents of Sigil, either born there or having arrived from elsewhere in the multiverse. All official D&D 5E races and classes are available, with the following considerations: Characters should have some connection to Sigil or reason to be there A background related to one of Sigil's factions is encouraged but not required Characters should be open to exploration and discovery Strong personal motivations or mysteries are welcome SESSION LOGISTICS Schedule: Will be determined by those selected, played weekly. Max Players: Capped at 5. Communication: Roll20 for Video and Audio, forums and PMs. Session Length: 2-3 hours Recordings: Will be recorded and made available online. Attendance: Please make an effort to show to each session. Give me a heads up as much beforehand as possible. If you no-show without warning three times in row, you will be removed from the campaign.
