Greetings! We're two guys in
our thirties who are looking for a DM to accompany us on a journey through an
epic story as we delve into our characters and their adventures. In the interest of
making it easy to get an overview, we've got a few bullet points, with a longer
description of us as players after if it seems interesting. We realise that the timeslot is strict, but unfortunately that's the only time both of us have time in our schedules due to different timezones. System - DND 5e 2014 Game Type - Duo
campaign, long term. Preferably homebrew! Probably level 1-3 and then up to 20 and beyond, depending
on where the story takes us. Timeslot/Frequency -
Thursdays weekly, starting time 06-07PM EST until 10 PM, with the possibility
of an occasional longer session if at an important point in the story. Themes we enjoy
- Grimdark. Gray morality, no clear good/evil. Serious. High fantasy. Gritty.
Choices matter. Drama. So now we find
ourselves looking for a long-term, dedicated DM that wants to go on an epic, (hopefully!)
multi-year journey together. With all the drama, joy, sorrow, excitement, and
surprises that hopefully entails. Of course we are open to discuss things, if it seems like an interesting concept. The Players Xander, 34 I'm a player that
enjoys all aspects of DND, although my true passion lies in roleplaying and
diving into a world and its characters. I would say that I prefer a mix of
about 75-25, in terms of roleplay to combat ratio, although sessions that are
outliers in either direction are no problem. I like writing extensive
backstories for my characters, and I try to give my DM a plethora of ways to
draw my characters in and resonate with them. I enjoy challenging encounters,
and if fate determines that my character will die, I only ask that it be a
meaningful and cinematic death. What I'm looking for
in a DM is someone who enjoys the same kind of game and style. High stakes,
epic encounters, soaring highs and bottomless lows, with tons of juicy
inter-character drama to go with it, as well as wild twists and turns. I also love all kinds of homebrew! Themes I personally
enjoy for my characters - Transformations. Angst. Strong emotions. Difficult
choices. Bittersweetness. Slow burns. John, 37 The types of
campaigns I enjoy most mix up challenging combat and satisfying roleplay. I
enjoy having my backstory tapped into and forging a path through a homebrew
world, collecting lore as I move along. As for the ratio of combat to RP, I
prefer about a 60 RP/40 Combat mix. I'm okay with a fireside session and time
for characters to interact. Character death is a natural part of the game, and
for the most part I just seek a more balanced game that is risk/reward - don't
pull your punches. As for the DM I prefer, I like to have someone that likes to
build worlds and make stories. Someone that also can say no to players and also
come up with unique alternatives for our ideas. If my character would die in a
situation, that is okay! High magic worlds and low magic worlds are both fun
for me. Intrigue, obscure skill checks, homebrew monsters or even a way to make
professions useful would be a huge plus. Hoping to hear from
you! Kind regards, Xander and John
