Slow down when using hexes

I've noticed that there is an pretty big hit to performance when the page settings are set to use hexes. Using the squares setting seems to work fine. Has anyone else experienced this?

How large is your page when you use hex?
1750 pix x 1750 pix. just cleared out the chat log and it made a little difference but the lag is still there. The main thing is the big difference in performance when using squares instead of hexes. I dont really mind using squares.

I'm curious if you are using Numbered hexes, or if that matters? I once made a map with a large number of Hexes and had numbering turned on. It counted up a humongous amount of hexes and labeled them. I don't know if that would cause any lag but it seemed like a large task. Hopefully Gauss will figure something out for you.

I've noticed this too using hex without numbers, On larger maps (30x30 or larger) I've started using grid instead. It doesn't seem to effect my performance or if it does its not noticeable much. But for my players with older machines they complained about it. Changing it to grid made them jump back up to smooth fluid token movement and map scrolling. It seems related to hex size, vs image size. I had it at 0.4 hex size and it was nearly impossible for those guys to do anything. 1.0 was 'bearable', while almost any size grid was fine for them. H vs V hexes didnt seem to make any difference.
