It's been a while since I ran a BX/OSE game. I'm really feeling that desire to get a weekly game of BX going again and take a break from modern game play. Looking for players wanting to dive into that old BX game play! I am a DM that started running games as a kid in 1978! I have run games off and on my entire life and I do know how to put on a good game. One of the key parts of that is letting your players know just what kind of game you will be running so here goes. It's deadly. BX was created back before the rules started changing to give the players more of an edge. Each battle is full of risk and once the dice start rolling you better be both lucky and have a plan on what to do if things start going against you. The amount of Death is rather extreme compared to modern games, That said once you get used to it AND start looking at combat as War and start using tactics along with the terrain to your benefit things start swinging back your way again. The number one thing is to have a plan and use it at the right time, to run the heck away. We role play. We always did. I mean sure I'm going to be honest with you, we ALWAYS hacked and slashed our way across the world but we did it while role playing. I mean sure we role played being kick butt warriors and power-mad wizards bent on looting all the most powerful ancient magical treasures but that is still role playing! I will use awesome adventures from both the past and now if my players have not run through them before. I also have Three Huge binders filled with Adventures I made myself and I'm pretty good at crafting short little ones for a nights entertainment on the fly if I need to. I use BX as a base and add on some OSE Advanced stuff as needed. Along with House Rules to bend the game to me what we like. I run an adult game. It's mostly PG-13 Stuff but it will sometimes end up with more adult themes so we make sure everyone is 18+. There is no set in stone rule on missing games. We are all adults. It happens. If it happens too often I will let you know. We always end up with a list of people wanting to get in so maybe you just need a break for a bit and let someone on the list in until you get your situation worked out. We play weekly. Sometimes if the group wants to, we may play more than weekly. We usually go through spurts where everyone is dying to play some extra games and then eventually things go back to weekly. It's mostly up to the players. You guys tell me what you want to do. Let me know if you are interested in trying out some BX Fun!
