Is there a way to read the location of a Ping?

I know that sendPing allows you to place a ping, including a left, top, and player_id value. Is there any way to do that in reverse? Essentially, someone pings a location on the map, and we get the left, top, and player_id of that ping? Even better would be if there's some way I can have a user click an arbitrary location on the map as part of a macro, and have that information get passed in. Kind of like how @{target|...} allows you to click on a token, except you wouldn't be restricted to just a token
Unfortunately no. There is a very old suggestion that you could throw a vote toward https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/8004495/api-it-would-be-great-to-get-an-event-when-a-shift-ping-happens It would be a great feature add to the API but the API improvements never seem to get enough traction to get worked on.

The whole ping system was due for a massive upgrade, which I think was pushed down for higher-demand projects.

ah that makes sense. Glad to know we may see something eventually!
