DND 4th Ed - Mature Players - 8pm Eastern Monday or Thursday.

Hey all! I run two games at the moment both following the same basic campaign (yay for the Transmogrifier). Both games are short a player to get our core group up to 5 so both have an opening. Here is what we have so far as characters: Monday Night Group: This group is made up mostly of friends from college and my wife and I. We are very social, a little scattered and we have a lot of fun with the RP. We use Google Hangouts with Video extensively and I have to admit it's part of the fun. The group is made up of a Warlord (healing focus), a Rogue (brawny) and a Wizard (control). We also have a cleric that sometimes plays (ranged). This group needs a tank more than anything else. Thursday Night Group: This group is made up of Roll 20 Vet's (mostly). We are far more tactical in our thinking there but still have a lot of run RPing as well. This group uses Google Hangouts as well but only two of us cam. We have a Paladin (tank), a bard (healing), a Warlock and Ranger for DPS. Really anyone would be welcome; I've been running an additional DPS Wizard just to fill in gaps. I play pretty loose with death and dying. I try to cater gear to the party and I believe that the game is about having a good time hanging out more than it is "winning" encounters. It's not hard to slaughter a party so for me the fun of running a game is to keep the story interesting and engaging. Possible players should have a character in mind when they DM me. Also, characters are (mostly) limited to the original Players Handbook. I know there are some pretty cool builds out there but despite the bard (and the ranged cleric) I am very very very hestitant to bring in the later classes. I have my reasons but the long story short is my effort to not let anyone class over shine the other players/ characters rolls. Thanks!

Hey, 29/m and I'm very interested in either of the 2 nights. I currently have 0 experience but I think I know the basics. I've been trying to find a DnD group to join. I've read through most of the PHB for 3.5 but I can do 4.0. What times would you be playing? I live in Central time zone and work standard working hours. 8pm EST is perfect for me. I have good webcam/mic.
Hi Rob, I'm interested in playing on your thursday night game. I've played from 2e-5e; been playing for over 20 years. I would like to play a controller of some sort, which would most likely be a wizard. Probably eladrin. Actually, my favorite character from 4th edition that I played was an eladrin wizard, who took the 1/2 vampire feat and epic destiny of prince of hell. Long story short is he was an unwilling prince of hell and resigned his fate to ghosting as many evil bad guys as he could before he was sucked into the hells. haha.
Maddog that sounds interesting but I'll be honest that the vampire feat is probably off the table. I'd have to look at the compendium later and see how much that has the potential to break the group. But it won't be hard to swap out the wizard they rescued for a new hire to the adventuring company. I'll shoot a note when I get out of work to chat about options. We start at 8pm Eastern and we run till about 11.
Hi Rob, From the replies above, you may have already found your players, but I thought I would express my interest anyway. I’m 44 years old and have a little over a year’s worth of experience as a player with 4E, and I have about 2 months experience with 4E as a DM on Roll20. I played a lot of AD&D in middle school and high school, but that was years ago, and I just starting getting back into RPGs a little over a year ago. I tend to like to play controllers, healers, or ranged strikers, so the Thursday night group would probably be a better fit. I’d be okay playing a tank too, but that wouldn’t be my first choice. I like a good mix of story, role play, puzzles, and tactical combat. I’ve never used Google Hangouts before, but I’m guessing that it is similar to Skype. I have a good working mic but don’t have a video camera currently. I have access to the 4E character builder and can create a character and a backstory quickly. I also have a lot of the 4E books. I am on the East Coast, so 8:00 PM Eastern on Thursdays or Mondays would work well for me. My only limitation is that I will be out of town the week of October 20 th . Otherwise, I am good to go to play for the foreseeable future. Please send me a Roll20 PM if I should send you a character or you have any questions for me. I have a Pelor healing cleric that I’ve been itching to play with a backstory ready to go. Otherwise, I hope your game continues to go well and happy gaming! Thanks. Jerry
For what it's worth our Monday night game still needs a player (Defender would add the most to the party though a Leader is also welcome to be considered) and it runs 8pm till 11pm Eastern time. I think Thursday night is back to 5 full time players.
Is a web cam a requirement for the monday game?
It's not, but honestly we're a very social group that does a lot of interplay and laughter. So far my experience is that things feel more personal with the cams up than they do without. But it's not required to join.

Sent you a PM yesterday, Rob.
Looks like we're all set. I'll message everyone again if we have an opening.
